It's ideal for avoiding the need to shuffle games off and on the system's limited 1TB.
The warranty period is one year. It's been less than a year since I got mine, and it's already died. I can't get it covered because the damned thing is made in Thailand and the serial numbers are smudged, making it impossible for them to identify it as mine. Aholes. DO NOT BUY A SEAGATE STORAGE UNIT. Customer service is a joke; do everything you can to extend the warranty as far as possible, and back up your backups.

This was an excellent buy! It's small enough to fit in my hand and doesn't obstruct my vision! I love that I can buy/download as many PS4 games as I want, and that the space will take a long time to fill up! br>br>7/21/21 EDIT: I just wanted to check in and let you know how things are going. I recently went from a PlayStation 4 to a PlayStation 5. Thanks to this small miracle, the process went a lot faster and smoother. I was able to move over 70 games without any problems! There will be no delays! I won't hesitate to order another once this one is finished (which will take a while). There's still about a terabyte of space available on my hard drive.

3 days after starting a backup of my Time Machine backup (approximately) It hadn't finished copying the 2 TB file yet. When the copy finally failed, it read "2 hours remaining. " I restarted right away, and now it's been 7 days since it all started, and it says "2 days remaining. " "br>br>Incidentally, this new drive was purchased to replace a different drive that was removed from rotation after it catastrophically failed, resulting in the loss of all data. Seagate was the manufacturer of that hard drive. So dissatisfied. br>br>.
My old hard drive is four times the size, weighs eight times as much, and only has half the storage capacity. Purchased for use with a Mac, and it performs admirably.
