In the past, I have worn an 8 For over 25 years, I have worn 1/2, 4E running shoes. Running in them made my feet go numb because the toe box of another brand shrank to the point my feet went numb. After switching to New Balance, I have never looked back. First pair of sneakers I bought were so spacious and comfortable that there was no need to return them. There have been lots of hits and misses since then. It came with two pairs of 1080s that fit like a glove. There is a noticeable decrease in height, width and size of these shoes. It escapes me as to why companies manufacture these smaller size and narrower width products. The problem is not that runners will not pay extra for more comfort, but rather that manufacturers refuse to make wider, deeper shoes. In a literal and figurative sense, it is a pain.
It has been between a month and two months since I received my New Balance Men's 520v5. It was very disappointing to receive the shoe when I first received it. I liked how the shoe fit around my foot and was especially comfortable in the lower portion. I've owned many New Balance sneakers over the years, so I consider this a steal. I walked, and something on the bottom tab rubbed painfully against the top of my foot as the friction and movement caused my foot to move. Like a shoelace end, the thing at the bottom of the tab had a consistency similar to that of the bottom of the tab. Both outer tabs had the defect, although the left side of the left tab had the greatest severity. Even though I wore thick socks, I would get scratches on the tops of my feet caused by the tab edge rubbing against them. My feet were covered with band-aids to protect against the tab edge, but I found that the band-aids would wear out with In those days, it was impossible to walk or run in these shoes. It would have been easy to return the shoe, but I decided to give it more time to see if the tab issue improved over time.
