1 1/4" to 1 3/8" wide is the width of the strap.
The answer is yes. Your car may not be suited to this option. As a matter of fact, if you care about your car, you can put a towel under the board

This system has everything one could ask for if they enjoy This product is made with quality and durability in mind. Padding made of neoprene does a fantastic job. The only downside is it's one piece pull through, so you'll have to fiddle with 12' of strap to get it through your roof racks and over your board while keeping the locking part straight. The translation is As you attempt to latch this thing onto your vehicle, you run around in circles. There is a limit to how tight you can get the device since it's a pull through and not a ratchet strap system. Because of the Yukon's bumper, I have to jump on and off it a couple dozen times, stretch, and pull in order to reach. My fault for not paying closer attention to this when I purchased it, but I would have preferred a two-piece system that ratchets tight with a minimum of effort rather than a single piece.
A very strong shaking is taking place! To secure the ratchet straps, we borrowed them. The highway is not the place for this. We missed the return window by two days as well! This has disappointed me greatly.
In comparison with previous versions, this strap seems to be more durable. The 1" width straps are also much heavier than the 3" width ones, which is somewhat of a shame since it takes up more room in my luggage when traveling abroad. My travel version of the 1" width original would have been more suitable if I had done it over again. As I can strap up to 4 surfboards with this and do not have a roof rack for my car, I would prefer to use it at home.
Those straps I got from the hardware store worked for me. There are just a few extra inches and thickness to these. The padding around the buckle is nice, but I would prefer to have it completely cover the buckle when I slide it across my SUP boards to the other side. They clink on the roof of my car since I slide them across. It might be a good idea to tie a washcloth and rubber band to my car's roof bars to strap one or two SUP boards to the roof. There are too many boards to do three in a short time period. My overall experience with these straps has been quite positive.
My surfboard is strapped to the roof of my car with these. I think they're great! When I had my old ones, I was unable to get them As a result, I had to stop on the side of the highway to tighten them again. I was able to get my board down nice and snug with the dakine straps. they are much more powerful and I am able to tighten them with almost no effort. What a great idea!.
There are four SUP boards spread out over 14' that I need to tie down, and I will have to drive fast on the highway. The boards are well secured by these, and the width of the boards makes them very reliable. These have been used almost every weekend for the past three years, and they still appear unused. My first set was lost, so I had to get a new.
All in all, I am satisfied with these straps. They are nicely designed, and they hold nicely, but you have to work rather hard to get the strap through the buckle due to the way they are designed. There must be an easier way to use them with time, they were more difficult to operate than past tie-ins I used A downhill task. Furthermore, 12 feet is a very long distance. you're only going to be using it for surfboards, paddleboards, or even kayaks, you have to deal with a lot of extra straps. As it was too long for me, I had to trim it down and burn the edge to make it easier to use. I think they are good, but could use some tweaks to make them more user-friendly.
Although I was a bit skeptical since I hadn't heard of this brand before, I have to say these straps are top of the line. This is a worthwhile purchase. The transmission synched perfectly and I was able to drive down the interstate at 70 mph. The belts did not need tightening during my 4 hour drive, so I stopped twice during that time. Although some people worry that the padding will get in the way of seeing, I have no concerns about this. There is a specific reason for the padding. The strap will not get caught when feeding it through the clamp section no matter how slight the obstruction may be.
