It is not waterproof in any way
Yes, I agree! I really love the way it works! The item is used every day by my son for school, and he feels very comfortable using it. is a great pair of shoes!
Unfortunately, the Big Kid Size 1 is lace-up, with a hook and loop to add some additional cushioning.
Although my kid appeared to be skinny when he was young and I had high arches when I was young. The shoes are awesome, not that he wears them, but they do look good on him. When a kid is that age, you cannot expect a shoe to outlast them. It will take a while for them to grow out of them before the soles or any other parts of the shoe wear out like other kids name brand sneakers.

The reason I'm reviewing these is mostly because I have seen my son own three different pairs over the last four The shoes my kid loves the most are these ones. In contrast to his recently replaced predecessor In the year Merrell Trail Chasers are not as durable as we think they should be, they have not failed as often as we have been told by reviewers. We are uploading pictures of our 2nd pair, replaced one year and 12 days after purchase and worn almost every day during the school year (except rain boot days and sandal weather days - please don't email them to me. My son wears his Merrell shoes remarkably easily compared to other kids. )
Merrell quality control must be spotty, or it might be due to my son's tough feet. The school he attends prioritizes outdoor play every day (in New England), so his shoes definitely get soaked by rain and mud, as well as running around on grass, gravel, and brick pavers, in addition to concrete and asphalt around the house. As a parent, I can say that my kids have sometimes ripped out the velcro fastenings on a pair of shoes from another brand. In my opinion, their Trail Chaser shoes are not designed to be delicate or careful. Our hiking sneakers have held up as you might expect from rugged footwear. The first pair of Merrell Trail Chaser shoes I bought for my son were purchased at a Nordstrom store after I had his I found an identical pair on Amazon and bought his second pair in January 2019 after he outgrew the first pair (yet refused to wear any other). The third pair I bought for him, and the current pair, was bought in January 2020. There has been some change to the Amazon listing (Little Kid/Big Kid), Gunsmoke/Orange, 2. Merrell Trail Chaser Hiking Shoe. I want to give 5 million US little kids to Children's Unisex Merrell Shoes Featuring the Gunsmoke/Orange Trail Chaser Sneaker, size
Apart from what is probably just a product listing change, the color combination of army green (Gunsmoke) and orange has been the same for all three pairs, and neither my son nor I can find any obvious differences between the old and new styles. From the photos of less satisfied customers, it does appear that it was more likely that they were showing alternate color combinations than others. Does anyone who reads this with quality concerns have a better chance with the Gunsmoke/Orange combo? The best review I can offer on this product is my child's passionate love for them. I can't get him to wear any other pair of casual shoes. In comparison to old-fashioned clasps, Velcro is faster and more convenient Tie laces fashioned in the traditional way. Despite the weather, he can still wear them on rainy days because they are weather-resistant. I believe my son stays dry (unless he steps in a puddle so deep that the water fills up from the top of the feet. parents whose children love these Merrell Trail Chasers, I suggest this style of boot that can The Merrell Chameleon 7 Access Mid Waterproof Boot Big Kid 5 Black I bought a half size larger so that I could wear thick winter socks with them. Also, my son has enjoyed the boots even though they've only been in our possession for a few weeks. In my opinion, if you like the look of these shoes, you should try them, but only buy from a seller who offers a generous return policy for those who might get shoes that are not as attractive as those pictured in the review.
My 2 year old and I love to hike, but I was worried about the amount of times his feet would slide out from under him. The shoes are no longer comfortable for me. This pair of shoes is called his "grippy shoes". In the meantime, he is also wearing them for every day wear, which suggests that they are comfortable. My son had to put them into the wash, but they were okay after (air dried). I don't think they will wear out in the future. They also seem well made and I have zero concerns they won't last. There is a little bit of difficulty getting them on, but the pull tab on the heel makes a huge difference in comparison with other sneakers. While he can get them on and off on his own, he definitely needs some help getting them off.
a problem with the width of the images. My order was for the "wide" size because they are marked as wide I need to buy shoes to fit my son's wide feet. Although they don't seem to be as wide as they should be or if the elastic no-tie is the culprit, I have no idea what the problem is It is hard to get my son's shoes on his feet due to the lace up front. think that the shoe is wide enough, however the laces make it difficult for a child to get his or her feet through the opening in the shoe.
These shoes are made by Merrell, and they are great. On 11/24, they are falling apart at the point where her foot slides into them. Her ankles are wearing through the fabric, and the part of the shoe around the ankles looks like she's been wearing them for 10 months, and not just for a couple months. of the shoe is holding up well, as well as the rest of the shoe. Although she loves them still, I'm not sure for how long they will last. She is picky when it comes to shoes and she is hard on them. She replaces her sneakers every month with Walmart sneakers that I buy for her! They are a huge hit with her. It is easy to walk in these shoes, as they are durable and comfortable. There is nothing better than a Merrell shoe, and these were no exception.
Sadly, because my son's feet are wide, these shoes did not fit him properly. I got them a size up from his usual size, but when he tried to put them on, the opening was too narrow. My shoe fit on one foot, but for some reason I couldn't get it to fit on the other foot. I had to return these since I had sized up and anticipated that they would last only a few months. Those are probably great if your kid has narrow or normal width feet, but hard to get on a foot that is wide.
Merrell, Keen, and Plae are the three main brands that we offer. Each one of them has its own reason why I love it. My son has been wearing Merrells for a few months now, and loves them. It can be hard to tell if a shoe fits perfectly when you slip your heel into it and hear that perfect fit noise. Imagine Mr. Rogers at the shoe store - (think of him visiting My son's shoes fit perfectly like that! The sneakers he wears often are more grown up looking, and he is very proud of them. In the long run, we might stick with this exact shoe for a while, or at least until he tires of it. Quality is more important to us than quantity, so we tend to own only one or two pairs of shoes at a time! To date, quality has been great, and I have already discussed being gentle with velcro with my son, and he has already done so.
A friend of mine bought these for my daughter. During the summer, we go hiking through a few state parks with the family, and these shoes have proven to be wonderful. Prior to that, she wore regular shoes for casual occasions. I could not depend on them to withstand the rough terrain. The dirt and rock do not hinder these, and the treat helps keep her from sliding, especially when going downhill. She has been using them for hiking, which means that her casual shoes last longer since the trails don't wear them out as easily. Like elastic, the laces cling to one another. In some cases, you may have to pull at the tongue to stretch the shoe enough so that your kid can get their foot in comfortably. It's nice to be able to adjust how tight you want the shoe to fit with the velcro.
