The medium-sized ones might work, provided they aren't too long for your son to wear. It was disappointing to receive very thin socks of a small size. He barely had the ability to tighten them around his foot, so he had to pull them on himself.
There is no chance he will fit into it. Despite ordering a large for my 8 year old, it fitted perfectly. The size 2 he wears is his. The boys are five.
For my son who wears a size 2 shoe, I ordered a medium. Unfortunately, their size chart isn't available for this product and it doesn't appear to be online.

I bought these socks for a first grader who is very active! These shoes are easy to put on and very comfortable, as there is no skin irritation at the toe seam. The stay up beautifully with no slouching or sliding, no matter how much he moves. of these is that they breathe, so there are no sweaty boy feet to deal with! They are actually big boy socks, so I suspect that's why. It's likely that the size of his shoe is something like a size 10 for a boy his age. The first time I tried them on, his heel was right back on his Achilles' tendon, as the shoes seemed to be so large in the package. As you pull down the heel to where his actual heel is, you can see quite a bit of space in the toe, but it is not too uncomfortable. wasn't expecting the tall ones (up to his knee) to keep up with him, but I wasn't expecting it to be that big. I can't complain since the price dropped down from $20 to $8, and for the price, I can't ask for more.
Three points we would like to emphasize. This is definitely one of those times when ordering online wasn't the best idea - very thin quality and very tight fit for the size. I'm not sure where these socks came from, but I definitely wouldn't recommend ordering online. There were a lot of things I was not expecting when I ordered Fruit of the Loom socks. There is a possibility that they are knockers You should avoid buying Fruit of the Loom socks if they are knockoffs or really poor quality. The soles of the socks are heavier than the tops of the socks, but the tops of the socks are in no way like athletic socks - in fact, they're hard to tell apart. Their smoothness and thinness make them look like miniatures.
I did choose a name brand I've grown up with and it has always been a staple of quality, and yet one of the socks has popped a hole after only a few wears. Sheesh! It's not the end of the world nor is it worth filing an official complaint, but it's a bit annoying.

Two socks already have holes in them after about a month of having this pack of socks. We also seem to have had them for a few years from looking at them.
