I can't speak for bald people, but my daughter has never been burned or shown/complained of discomfort from the sun while wearing this hat, and we live in the desert, where we get dry heat (100 degrees).

To compare, I purchased both this and the Sunday Afternoon hat. My daughter (who wears a youth xs clothing size) liked the look and fit of this one right away. br>br>Quality is good, with a lightweight fabric that retains its shape around the front brim. It works well, and there's a cinch in the back to adjust the circumference. There is, however, elastic around the back of the head that allows for flexibility. The chin straps are adjustable and removable, but there is no safety clasp. I do wish the brim was a little bit wider to provide a little more coverage (the Sunday Afternoon one was a little bit wider than this one). br>br>The fact that it was half the price of the other was an added bonus. I purchased this hat for my 3-year-old daughter, who is above the 99th percentile (in terms of head size). I was hesitant to purchase anything for her because shopping for her can be difficult due to the size of her head, but the package arrived promptly and was wrapped in a clear bag. I thought it looked like an adult hat when I took it out of the bag, but when I tried it on, it fit me perfectly. I had to double-check the description on the order information to make sure I didn't order an adult hat, and it did say "KIDS" hat, so I tried adjusting the size of the hat (it has a bra strap-like adjustment on the back of the hat) before trying it on my daughter. The smallest setting, to my surprise, was too small for her, so I had to adjust it again until it fit her head. When she wears it, the sunshade portion provides ample coverage, while the back covers her neck, reducing the risk of sunburn in that area. The hat is very adaptable and will easily fit into her toddler backpack or purse. She appreciates the fact that the sun does not cause her eyes to hurt. Although I was initially taken aback by the hat's size, I've grown to appreciate it. It'll last her years for only $13! (It also fits me. ) This hat will be put to good use unless it is ripped or lost. I only wish this hat was available in navy so that it could be worn with more outfits (for example, jeans). Almost any color will do). This hat is soft, and it reminds me of an activeware "quick dry" top. It's great that the material isn't too thick. After a few uses, I'll have to update my review and hopefully (with the help of a cooperative toddler) take pictures for a better reference.
In October 2018, my family and I traveled to Hawaii, and I searched high and low for a sun hat for my four-year-old daughter. Son is 5 years old and extremely active. I bought this sun hat, and I'm so glad I did. Because it's adjustable, I was able to perfectly fit it to my son's head, and it provided excellent sun protection. It was so well-fitting around his neck and face, with an adjustable chin strap, that it never came off. This hat is absolutely gorgeous!.
This hat was purchased for my boisterous 4-year-old son, who enjoys boating. This hat appeals to me for the following reasons: Because the head part can be adjusted, it perfectly fits my son's head. Even in a strong wind on a high-speed boat, the chin strap keeps the hat on the son's head, preventing it from flying away. When wet, it does not become wrinkly and dries quickly. It casts a pleasant shade over the face and neck. It's made of breathable material that keeps your head cool. Foldable and extremely light weight. It appears to be a pleasant environment. My son would wear it all day if he could. br>What is it about this hat that I dislike? So far, there are no drawbacks that I can see. br>br>I was debating whether or not to purchase a Sunday Afternoon hat, but I'm glad I did because, while I know Sunday Afternoon is a fantastic brand, I would highly recommend this hat to any young children.
When sunscreen alone isn't enough for your sun-kissed son, head to SoCal. He's almost five years old and has always been large for his age (height, weight, and head circumference), but this hat fits him perfectly thanks to the adjustable buckle. The bucket is deep enough for a secure fit, and the bungee chin strap is simple to use and stretchy enough that he won't be bothered. The fabric is pleasant to the touch, and the vents are excellent. My only regret is that the tan color is more orange than khaki, so it's not quite the "safari" look he was hoping for, but that's okay with him. Win!.
The brim is comfortable and secure. We can't wait to take this to Florida this summer for a vacation and some swimming.
