Yes, it is.
I'm not sure if our little one got sunburned, but I doubt it. His hair is very light and he has a very light complexion. He didn't like wearing a hat at first, but once the sides were raised, he loved it. He didn't have any sun on his head or face.

We've had a lot of positive feedback on this hat. My youngest child is two years old. He's five years old and quite large for his age. I bought a cheap hat last year that didn't have any ventilation or a chin strap, so I knew I needed something better this year. My son now asks for his hat rather than fighting me, and I can tell he enjoys having his eyes shielded from the sun. He doesn't seem to mind the chin strap and actually finds it useful. He doesn't get irritated by the strap because it's soft. I like how the sides have ventilation because I know his head gets hot when he wears a hat. The hat's white color keeps it cool as well. br>br>I washed it (accidentally) and it still fits fine, but I did not dry it. If this hat doesn't fit next year, I'll definitely buy a larger one if one becomes available.
It's a little bigger than I expected, and it's not exactly "breakaway. " This is a wonderful hat for my granddaughter. I like the mesh that keeps it from overheating her head because it's light and easy to wash. There are only two issues:br>- We didn't expect it to be so big! We took her head measurement and ordered the smallest size on their chart, but it still fits her - larger than her head by at least an inch! It's not a big deal, but it'll fall off once she starts walking. However, I anticipate that she will be able to wear it for at least the next five years. br>- On windy days, the hat is held in place by a cord that runs under her chin. It's advertised as having a "breakaway" cord to prevent the hat from becoming tangled around the baby's neck. If it's "breakaway," breaking it apart would take a lot more strength than I have in my two arms, so it's not a very effective safety feature. We just tied the strap to the top of the hat brim for now to keep it from getting tangled around her neck, and we'll probably cut it off later, but I wouldn't leave a baby alone assuming the "breakaway" feature works.
I was initially surprised by the fabric, which differed from that of my son's previous hats. It's a lot more rigid, and I prefer it. The hat's edges stay put and keep the sun off his face (when he wears it). I wanted to give it some time before writing a review to make sure it held up in the wash. So far, everything has gone well!.
br>br>Excellent design! Because of the mesh siding, it is breathable, so his head does not sweat when we remove it. The snaps on the sides are a nice touch. When he's in the baby carrier, we grab one half to keep it from rubbing against anything. When we aren't using the neck strap, we use the side snap to keep it in place (or we just put the neck strap behind his head).
It serves the purpose of keeping the sun out of my son's eyes, which is why I purchased it. It's light and airy, thanks to the netting. Since I'm not a scientist, I'm not sure how well the sun protection works, but it keeps the sun out of his eyes and off his face, which helps to block the sun there. He's 7 months old and will be able to grow into it over the summer, which is all I need it to do, then our other baby will be able to use it next year.
It's a hat that's both cute and stylish, as well as being extremely comfortable. However, the description stated that the chin strap was removable and breakable, which is not the case. My son has a large head, so I ordered a larger size, but it's not safe to leave him alone with it, which is disappointing because it was advertised as a breakaway hat.
The colors appear to go with almost any ensemble. I also like how the sides of the bag can be zipped up. This picture shows a 7-month-old baby with a typical-sized head.
It runs a little small; I bought it for my almost 2-year-old son. The age of the child is five years. Next summer, I don't think it would fit him as well. However, we'll have to wait and see what happens. The material isn't my favorite, but the mesh ventilation around the head is a plus. I'm sure he appreciates it because of his long curly hair.
