The phone was not damaged because the screen was left on.
I'm not sure, but the case appears to be very sturdy and protects the UV bulb.
I haven't tried it yet, but I'll ask my audiologist about it.

I'm completely fed up. To get this to work again, I had to unplug and replug it several times. It's all come to a halt right now. I'm so irritated!.
I sent it back and bought the Phonesoap XL instead. Even more so, I prefer the Phonesoap XL model! Yes, the XL model isn't as portable as the regular model, but I can do so much more with it. While you can't see if UV light sterilization works, do your research and you'll find that it has been proven to be effective. br>br>I took one star off this review (for the Phonesoap 3) because my phone would not fit.
I recently received the product, which appears to have been used. It is completely scratched, and the screen cleaning liquid that was advertised in the user instructions manual did not come with it.
After you close the package, the product will not start. To get to work, you must open and close several times. I need a replacement that is covered by the warranty. br>.
It worked well for the previous six months, but then it stopped working. There is no longer any light. Is sanitization no longer an option?.
This product is fantastic; I fly weekly and with all of the travel and exposure my phone receives, this little gem is a lifesaver! br>It's also great that it comes in a variety of colors. I'm looking for Christmas gifts for my two daughters-in-law, both of whom work in the medical field.
My machine is no longer functional; I bought it in December and it had stopped working by May.
*UPDATE* I'm deducting a few stars from my review because it began to exhibit the same issues that other reviews have mentioned a few months after I purchased it: It wouldn't turn on unless you repeatedly unplugged and plugged it in, opened and closed the lid, and/or jiggled the bulb. It was a minor annoyance, so I put up with it, but now, 11 months later, it won't turn on unless I hit the machine--and I mean REALLY hit it--with my hand. I have to punch the lid hard enough to shake the bookcase it's on, and even then it's not always successful. It also doesn't always turn off after 10 minutes. It occasionally cuts off after two, forcing me to restart the cycle and hoping it doesn't reset itself while I'm not looking. br>br>A part of me wants to forgive it because it did its job for nearly a year (give or take a few hiccups), but at such a high price, I can't. I'm thinking I'll just stick with Lysol wipes until a better machine comes along.
- br>br>I wish I had known about this earlier! It's so simple to just pop my phone into this as soon as I get home, and my phone is clean and ready to go by the time I return from walking my dog. It's small and doesn't take up a lot of space, and the pink color makes it a pleasant addition to the space rather than an eyesore. br>br>I was planning on swabbing the phone before and after the UV cleaning to compare bacteria counts, but that was a waste of time; If you search for it on Google, you'll come across tech sites that have done exactly that to prove that the machine works. At the end of the day, I believe it is well worth the money.
