I had previously purchased the 1 year 400 minute airtime cards from Amazon for $90, and they were genuine Tracfone cards. Instead of a Tracfone card, I got a couple of sheets of home-printed paper this time. That was not at all what I had anticipated. It now appears that buying directly from Tracfone is the best way to ensure that you get exactly what you want.
So far, my wife has been very happy with the Tracfone service. We purchased a triple-minute smartphone (LG Dynamic II LG39C), and this card extended our service for a year by adding 1200 minutes to each of our voice, text, and data buckets. I did everything online, so I didn't have to deal with Tracfone customer service, and I've heard there are a lot of third-party tracfone services (for adding minutes) that have much better customer service. Please note that I think Tracfone is good for people who only use their phone occasionally (texts, calls, etc. ). We pay about $8 per month for this card's service, but it could be more if we need to buy more minutes before the year is up. However, we are unlikely to do so!.

These cards were bought in pairs. One to keep in mind for the future. I'm no longer able to use the latter. Tracfone says to contact the seller if the card does not activate. When I contacted the seller, they informed me that they are only valid for a year. This is not stated anywhere on the website or on the card. If this is how they do business, they should include it in their advertisements. Cards from physical stores do not expire in this manner.
