Spending a little more on a straightener than I might usually do would make up for my disappointment, but it did not. This item was shipped quickly, heats up quickly, and goes up to 450 as stated. I gave it 3 stars because it arrived quickly and heats up quickly. The thing I have a problem with is that there is an irritating clicking in the unit, and I can't figure out what's wrong. The straightener is coated in black/brown gunk after using it, which indicates it should not be used on color-treated hair. The straightener is melting the color off my hair as well as melting away the color from my hair. I also find that it pulls my hair as it tries to straighten it, rather than just gliding right through like I have with other straighteners. I'm actually very disappointed with it since it's not as great as I had hoped.

The Chi Lava had initially caught my eye, but I ended up being very unhappy with it. It may sound dramatic, but changing your life can be life-changing. In all seriousness, though. Because I have super hard to style chin-length hair that is extremely wavy and awkward, it is so difficult for me to style. It was a real kick in the balls for my stupid hair. I absolutely love it! There are no words to describe how highly I recommend. When styling my mint green hair, this product makes it look less damaged. I love it.

It's wonderful to have a flat iron like this. My iron allows me to straighten my hair and curl it in ringlets at the same time. I don't feel like my hair is snagging or pulling. A smooth glide is achieved through the hair when using the iron. This is a highly recommended product.
