I haven't seen coated tips on these rubber tips, but they feel smooth to me. After I have teased the top of my hair, I use that to smooth it out. It has never been an issue for me in all the years I've used them. As good as this has never been found before. Here is what I hope will help.

This comb has been in my possession for a long time. Their quality is high and they last for a long time. Teeth have a few notches which make them easy to use when you want to tease hair to lift it up an extra inch. Wire spikes are great for reaching into small spaces on your hair so you can lift and restyle areas to make your hairstyle look perfect. rubberized gripper area on the comb, which is convenient, so that the comb doesn't fall easily out of your hands. If you are as particular as I am about having your hair styled nicely, you will really enjoy using.
This comb is a great and sturdy product. My BFF's hair salon, where she owns a salon, was willing to do one for me and one for my friend. Upon showing me her favorite teasing comb, she gave me a big smile. I've had that comb for 15 years, but it's still the same! There are some stains on it and some of the teeth are missing, but she cannot give it up. As of NOW She is looking forward to enjoying her new one for a long time.

They have great durability and are good for lifting and teasing. The heat-resistant material comes in handy in case you set the curling iron too close to the items.
