Update: The truth is that paraffin dipping isn't feasible. Due to Psoriatic Arthritis, which was severely limiting my ability to use my hands, I purchased a praffin bath on the advice of my physical therapist; the heat was extremely soothing for the pain. This is the reality of paraffin dipping for this purpose. It takes three days to make the wax. I don't know many people who have extra counter space and are looking for something awkward to fill it with, I know I'm not one of them. It takes 4 hours to melt, best case scenario, so you have to leave the machine out all the time. Due to the length of time it takes to melt the wax, you must leave the machine plugged in all the time or plan on plugging it in in the morning so the wax will be melted in the evening. You cannot just decide to use it on the spur of the moment. You dip both hands, wrap them in plastic, and then wrap them in a fabric of some sort to keep the heat for as long as possible in my case and anyone doing it for arthritis pain in the hands. For the next 20 minutes, you won't be able to use your hands. Time limit: 30 minutes If you use a heating pad, you can take your hands out to drink water, turn the page in a book, change the channel on the television, or do anything else while sitting and enjoying the soothing relief of the heat. You're stuck with the wrappings if you use wax; if you remove it, you're finished. The entire procedure is completely impractical. If you're looking for a machine, this is the one to get. I just think that paraffin dipping at home is probably not practical for a lot of people, and that you should think about it before going ahead and doing it. A heating pad is just as effective; it just doesn't have the same ring to it. br>br>I needed a paraffin bath to relieve the pain in my hands. I bought a cheaper one at first, but it didn't work out. Even after three days of the machine being turned on, there was about an inch of wax about two-thirds of the way around that would not melt. When I dared to dip my hands into the melted wax, it was extremely hot and uncomfortable. I peeled it off right away, and the skin was tender for a day or so, so I'd say it was mildly burned. Perhaps it was a defective machine, but others had complained about it in reviews, so I assumed they didn't know how to properly paraffin dip. After that experience, I realized they were correct, and I chose to spend the money on a high-quality machine, which I cannot explain. You can tell it's a better machine right away when you take it out of the box. I put two bags of wax in it, and it melted completely in a few hours; I dipped my hands in it, and there was no discomfort; the wax was at the perfect temperature. The machine is a good size; you can easily dip your hands and, in my opinion, small to medium adult size feet. With a little maneuvering, I'm sure you could get big feet into it. br>br>When I bought my machine, I decided to get a scented wax, and I chose eucalyptus rosemary mint. It does not appeal to me in the least, but that is a matter of personal taste. It's not a strong scent, and I don't think it'd be bad; I'm more concerned that it would leave a scent on my hands after the treatment, which I despise. I also bought a box of unscented wax because I'm a snob when it comes to scents, so I'm using that right now. I guess my advice on that one is to go with the unscented if you're not sure; no one can really explain the scent or tell you whether or not you'll like it. If you're sensitive to odors, don't take the chance; I'm glad I didn't. br>br>As I previously stated, I started with two bags for my hands and have since added two more. I thought the two bags were a little shallow because I was trying to cover up to my wrists with them and had to twist and maneuver to get the area covered. My physical therapist suggested that if I wash my hands thoroughly every time I use it and am the only one who uses it, I could reuse the wax and remove it from my hands. I'm not sure how many times I'll do this before changing out the wax because I think my hands sweat because they're so warm. I also bought the plastic liners and mitts, which I'm glad I did. I know someone who uses plastic grocery bags and kitchen towels, but I find the liners and mitts to be much more convenient. br>br>Overall, I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to others.

Maybe not if you just want a manicure paraffin bath to use once in a while, but I've had a less expensive paraffin bath and believe me, it's well worth the extra money! Perhaps not if you don't have a medical reason and/or won't be using it frequently, as I mentioned in the subject line. br>br>I have Fibromyalgia, arthritis, and Hemochromatosis (all of which can and do cause joint pain), and I suffer from wrist pain on a daily basis. When I have these problems, I find myself unconsciously rubbing my wrists and hands, dropping things when I have a sudden pain, and so on. I am constantly looking for something to relieve the discomfort to outright pain. br>br>A few years ago, my husband bought me a paraffin bath unit; it was cheaper, but it didn't work nearly as well as this one. The wax was inconsistent in temperature, getting too hot at times, and the reservoir was small. The thing had to be reheated when I needed it, and by that time I couldn't do a treatment for one reason or another. There were times when I didn't need it because I was on pain medication, or I had to leave the house, etc. The point was that it was rarely ready when I really needed it. We never replaced it after it stopped working. br>br>Fast forward to the Spring of this year. My hand pain worsened, so I started researching paraffin baths once more. Despite the cost, I chose this one because I'm sick of being in pain. My husband opened the box and set it up for me when I wasn't at home one morning. The wax was ready to use when I got home. WOW! It was EXTREMELY EXCITING! It's not too hot, but it's a pleasant temperature. I was completely sold after the first treatment! At the very least three times a week, I use it. Every week, four times. Only when we went on a trip did I turn it off. My husband is an electronics technician, and he claims that it consumes very little electricity and is well-built. br>br>I wrap my hands in triple/quadruple layers of terry cloth towel. I'm making a pair of custom-fit mitts for myself and my husband with a Velcro closure to keep the heat in longer. They will be far superior to those available for purchase. I hope! Overall, we enjoy it! br>br> It's also what my husband uses for his dry hands!.

This item appeals to me. My OT recommended a paraffin bath to help with my wrist/hand problems, and while this model was one of the more expensive options, the size and quality of the wax are ideal for me. Yes, it takes a few hours to melt the wax for use, but you can leave this model plugged in and it will be ready whenever you want/need it!br>br> It only takes a few minutes to melt used wax, and the soothing heat works wonders on my stiff joints and tendons. I'm very happy with this purchase, and if it continues to perform well in the future, I'll be even happier. term as it is right now I will 1000% be 1000% satisfied It's well worth the money because it's a larger size that comfortably fits my hand and wrist. It's also big enough for me to put my elbow in and get great results. Get it and put it to good use. LOVE IT!.

It's simple to set up; simply do so at night and it'll be ready the next morning. You don't want to move it, so find a place for it to stay.
