It was caused by a severe injury to my toe that I sustained while stepping on a cement corner for ten years that left me with a large nail ridge on my pinky toe. It had always occurred to me that it was a permanently damaged nail, but this item got it completely out. As a matter of fact, I was quite surprised. Fortunately there are no underlying conditions that can cause nail ridges, so I cannot say whether it would help get rid of them. My skin is extremely dry, so I could have had damage and eczema combined to cause this. The pinky looks cute again after getting rid of whatever it was! This is one worth trying, it's worth your time to check it out. Make sure you leave it somewhere you won't forget to use it, like by the toilet or by your bedside table, so you will remember to use it every

I find this to be very useful. Changing the nail's surface from ridged to smooth resulted in better health. There was a reduction in thickness.
