Legs go under the mattress, not on top of it.
I'm not a fan of srraps.
They certainly can, and they do so with relative ease! We never even attempted to connect the two under the mattress, as the instructions suggest. The bed's weight usually keeps it securely in place. The legs even collapse when removed, so I just slid the entire mechanism between the mattresses for storage. They've been an excellent safety precaution for our son.br>br> Because he's a rogue!

Because I'm a co-worker, I ordered this. I'm looking for a place to sleep that's big enough to fit my King-size bed. I was dissatisfied with the packaging because it was completely open when I received it and could have easily slipped out of the box during transit. The rails do not fold into the mattress to make it easier to get out, but they can be folded up for transport or storage. They're adjustable and fit my King size bed, which is 6 1/2 feet long with room to spare; the material is a little flimsy but appears to be durable. These are made to be used on both sides at the same time, rather than just one.
It's been two months since I've been using this. I'm pleased with it so far. It appears to be well-built and sturdy. made. The only drawback is that it is a little too small. Because I have a 16-inch mattress, it only sticks out about 10 inches over the edge of the bed. I would recommend it because it is keeping my 5-year-old from falling off my bed.
The description is deceptive. I needed two separate ratings. This is a two-piece set that must be used together on both sides of the mattress. I intend to return.
When I first removed the rails from the bed to store them, all of the locking pins vanished. I couldn't rotate or move my legs in any way. I couldn't figure out what happened to the pins. The legs were stuck in a position where they couldn't move. Because all of the rails' legs were sticking out, I wouldn't be able to store them easily. This item was a huge letdown. The rails would be fantastic if you just kept them on all the time and never tried to take them off and store them. Our grandkids come to see us frequently, but I didn't want to leave the rails on the bed indefinitely- I need to be able to take them down and put them under the bed. This item has been returned to us.
Because I have a very deep mattress, this would only extend about 4 inches over the top. . . I had to return it. However, I believe it would be adequate for a standard-size/thick mattress.
The tops of the rails frayed the first day and continued to tear up the following days. The metal construction is fine; the fabric, on the other hand, is so thin that it ripped on the first day of assembly. It started out fine, but it quickly deteriorated. I asked for my money back.
This is exactly what we were looking for at this time. We have a pillow top mattress and were having a hard time finding rails that were tall enough to keep our child in bed. These are well-made and tall enough.
It is ok. It's only a minor detail.
