Questions & Answers
Yes! The Breathing Band was created with the needs of growing children in mind. Nanit can track breathing motion in belly sleepers because the pattern is visible on the back.
Yes! The breathing band can be used on babies as well as adults. I believe the baby must weigh more than 6 pounds to use it, so it is appropriate for the majority of newborns.
No, this is how the camera detects movement and breathing.
When no breathing is detected, it makes a noise at the camera and wakes the baby. If they stop breathing, that's probably a good thing!

The sizing on this product is incorrect; I ordered a large because the small stopped fitting my newborn after 3 weeks, and the large is already too small at 7 weeks. My little one weighs in at 11 pounds. a complete waste of money I would not have bought the Nanit camera if I had known the sizing was limited; now I won't be able to track my son, which was the whole point of it.
Do you apply this while they are in a swaddle, my question to those reviewers? Because that hasn't been my experience up to this point. I fasten it around my baby's armpits and over her sleep sack. It's never ridden up on me. We've had three red alert alarms, and I'm glad I bought it so we can use our Nanit to its full potential.
She's EBF, and bedtime is always a nightmare for her. She screams until she falls asleep, and despite our efforts, she is still unhappy. This is the FIRST NIGHT I'VE EVER USED THIS BAND, and she's fast asleep. She was so quiet and peaceful as she fell asleep on my shoulder. She hasn't fussed or cried since I put this on her, and she appears to be at ease. Thank you for preserving the sanity of this mother.
This swaddle does provide some peace of mind, but it could be a lot better. The swaddle is different from other swaddles in that it does not keep the baby's arms down. In the middle of the night, my little guy can and will get his arms up to his face. That's something he's never done with any other swaddle. To say the least, it's great for peace of mind, but it's frustrating when he wakes up multiple times a night because the swaddle isn't tight enough (despite the fact that it's the tightest it can go around him). This swaddle would be perfect if it were similar to the halo swaddle.
It's a soft, comfortable belt that really stands out in the Nanit camera.
My 5-month-old son can only roll from back to tummy, not from tummy to back. I'm afraid he'll get stuck in the middle of the night while we're both sleeping. The fact that the breathing band will sound an alarm if no breathing is detected gives me peace of mind at night. br>The band is simple to put on, and the velcro is so strong that I don't have to worry about him opening it by accident. In any case, it's so light and unobtrusive that my son doesn't seem to notice he's wearing a second band and hasn't pulled it on.
It works most of the time, but we've already had four false alarms (in less than two months of use), as well as several instances where it simply stops monitoring and displays a generic error message. The nanit camera is fine in and of itself, but the breathing band does not provide much assurance. I'd prefer if Nanit put a higher priority on reliability.
Knowing that it is monitoring our children's breathing patterns provides us with a great deal of peace of mind, and we are able to sleep more soundly as a result. It's super simple to put on, has a soft fabric, and is machine washable. It's also great that my baby isn't exposed to any electronics or sensors.
