The OEM rocket, while lacking in details and a little hazy with its installation instructions, is a brilliant device in my opinion. It consists of two parts: a receiver (which can travel up to 100 miles) and a launcher. There's a transmitter that attaches to the tank itself, and there's a gauge (150' from the transmitter) that tells you how much fuel is left in the tank. It's designed to take the place of a mechanical gauge. It connects with the help of a coupler that comes with the kit. All of this fits into a standard-sized hole on the tank's top. I'd recommend either a comeback or a re-entry strategy. Because the previous plug is usually thread locked, you'll need a long-handled wrench to remove it. Overall, this device is a lifesaver and a far more convenient alternative to replacing old, broken mechanical gauges.
This isn't likely to work with in-house software. tanks that are below ground It's supposed to go in a bunghole at the top of the tank, and the instructions say it won't work if the sides are obstructed. That is, mounting it on a pipe connected to a bunghole in the tank will not make it work. (Even if side obstruction wasn't an issue, I doubt you'd be able to adjust the receiver enough to account for the pipe's length and display accurate readings.)
The sender unit is 6 inches tall when fully assembled.
The unit can be set up to monitor the level in tanks of various sizes.

This thing worked great in the mild fall weather, but once the temperatures dropped into the low teens and single digits, it became too unpredictable to trust. It would report a full tank, then either not have any oil the next day or lose the signal entirely. A replacement was sent, and it worked just as well. Amazon, thankfully, has a fantastic return policy and accepted it after four months. I really wanted this to work, but the ability to work properly in extremely cold temperatures is the most important feature when it comes to oil level monitoring.
AWESOME PRODUCT. TO GET IN PERMANENT SINC, I HAD TO RESET A FEW TIMES, BUT IT WASN'T A PROBLEM.
I've had this for two years and it's never been correct. For the technical setup, there are far too many codes.
It's quite effective. My only criticism is that the display should be placed closer to the tank than it is now. On a kitchen outlet, it's simple to read. My kitchen is on the opposite side of the house from the tank, and it frequently loses signal. It's still more convenient to check in the basement.
I put this in a few weeks ago so my elderly mother wouldn't have to go down to the basement to check the oil level. To get it to work, I had to resync the sender and receiver, which was simple to do and the instructions were included, but it was not a plug-and-play situation. It is now operational. I've installed and calibrated industrial ultrasound level sensors numerous times as an Instrumentation Technician, and the technology is extremely dependable. It does require a clean shot to the fluid's surface. The sound waves can't reach the tank's side walls or anything inside it (is there a mechanical float in the way?). The sender can't be raised far enough above the top of the tank for the return sound waves to hit the opening's edge. Tanks exposed to temperature extremes during the day may cause condensation to accumalate on the sender face, resulting in erratic readings. To correct this, remove it and clean it. These are issues that aren't specific to this product, but rather with technology in general. br> One thing I didn't know was how far the wireless signal would reach. Mine is in the room directly above the sender and works perfectly. br> I have two items on my wish list: ) Increase the size of the display to make it easier to read from a distance, and 2. ) Set up contacts for (programmable) hi, lo, and lo- Alarm clocks with a low tone This could be a separate wireless alarm module (preferable) or a feature built into the display. This would be fantastic if I could integrate it with an autodialer or security system to notify me when there is a problem. br>Overall, this is a good deal for the price, sender technology, and wireless receiver.
br>br>I can't climb the stairs any longer, and my daughter despises going down into the filthy cellar:.
It appeared to be in good condition, but I had trouble setting it up and programming it. They don't give you enough time to get from one location to the next in order to set this up. I'm going to look for a manual one instead of an electronic one now.
Setup is simple. As long as you follow the instructions, it's simple to put together. Take your time and double-check that the dip switches are set for the right tank size.
