There was no scent on the outside, and it is activated charcoal. That was why I cut open. In the sachet bag, I put about a third of the mixture. If you are doing it over the garbage can or sink, then use that. The remainder of the bag was placed in a Ziploc in the laundry room, and the bag was hung in the laundry room since it was probably the stinkiest one in the Activated charcoal isn't new information but it really does help to eliminate bad odors when used.
There is no evidence of a tiny bag in my memory. I would have kept one if it came with one, but I cannot remember where I put it. I apologize that I couldn't be more helpful.

I love this basket so much! A very large and sturdy bed that holds a lot of stuff and looks great in the bedroom with extra blankets and a dachshund who thinks it is now his own bed.
