The downloadable Wyatt the Whale app is by far the coolest part of this, as it allows you to pick and choose from the preloaded songs, sounds, and stories, and arrange them in any order you want. I like that you can pick and choose from the preloaded items. About 15 songs, 3 sounds, and 10 stories were chosen. You must connect to wifi and use the provided password the first time you use the app. The total time spent listening to the songs, sounds, and stories must not exceed 45 minutes. There are four different color settings for the lights, which project steadily on the ceiling and work well as a night light. The stars will turn off after about 30 minutes, but the music, sounds, and stories will continue to play for as long as you want them to. You can choose from at least 25 different song melodies in the music sounds. There are at least 20 different noise sounds to choose from, such as a fan, ocean, rain, heartbeat, and so on. Many of the sounds were irritating to me, so I only programmed the fan, ocean, and rain into ours. br>br>My favorite feature is the ability to record yourself reading stories into the whale. "Guess How Much I Love You," one of our favorite stories, is one that I recorded myself reading. Because you only have a 7-minute recording window per story, you'll want to pick short stories. We use it every night, and it's one of my favorite baby purchases; in fact, I bought one for a pregnant friend.

The sounds and music quality are good, but the loops are distracting, so I bought it primarily as a white noise machine. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do with your phone is download sounds, stories, and songs. It's a bit of a pain to set up because it keeps telling you you're not connected when you are. You can also record your own story or song, which I enjoy doing, but I'm disappointed that I can't control it from my phone. Finally, "glow-in-the-dark" is mentioned in the title. night light for the ceiling " This isn't the case at all. Nothing projects onto the ceiling except a soft light from the turtle's belly. It isn't a true Wifi device, so it won't connect to your network. It creates its own wifi network with only a few feet of range. Your phone must be in the same room as the whale and within close proximity to use it. Furthermore, you are unable to control any of the whale's functions using the app. Only a few things are accomplished by the app- It allows you to change the order in which the stories in the whale's internal memory are played. You can also record yourself reading to your baby, singing, talking, and so on, and save them to the whale's internal memory. V-br>br>V-br>V-br>V-br>V-br>V As a WiFi-enabled device, it's being sold by tech. The term "enabled device" is extremely deceptive. PROS: br>br>

A pitty. This sound machine was purchased for my daughter's room and will be used on a regular basis. It has a large sound library, but what drew me in was the fact that it is rechargable, which means I won't have to replace the batteries every now and then; however, it broke after only two months of use, which is why I am giving it one star. The part where you plug in the cable to charge it has broken and is now useless. A pitty.

Today was Myla's last day. She did a good job for the first six months or so. I noticed she couldn't hold a charge for as long after 7 months. After a while, I unplugged her. She was there 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until she crossed the rainbow bridge this morning. She is my baby's nanny for all naps and overnight. On the highest volume setting, she registers around 50 decibels near the crib. For night feeds, I use the soft nightlight feature. If V- If Tech could put a better battery in this machine, it would be a 5 star device, but I'm deducting a star because I'm out $20 more to replace her, and I had to rush to Wal-Mart. While we wait for Myla 2 to arrive, Mart will go out and get a quickie replacement.

My 5. My 5-year-old son no longer wanted his beloved Brica Firefly crib mirror, but he was having a hard time falling asleep. sleeping through the night My son adores his whale, and I thought this whale had the most options for the money. The sound quality is comparable to that of a Bose stereo system. Both the classical music selections and the stories have left a lasting impression on us. The stars aren't particularly bright, but they form a pleasing visual pattern that helps him unwind. I wish I could set the volume to a lower, more comfortable level. Overall, a great sleep aid for an older child who isn't ready for a radio but still needs a sound machine that isn't too babyish.

This is the third time we've done it. The first two shattered in the same place - the connection for sub-charging I'm beginning to wonder if this was a deliberate design flaw, and I'm not sure how this product flaw went unnoticed in the reviews. When it works, it's great, but I didn't plan on buying three of these.
