Questions & Answers

So, do you keep these after each feeding or do you discard them? If it's the latter, it appears to be a complete waste of money?! ?

You get rid of them. If you plan on using the entire system, I believe the investment is worthwhile. It costs $15 to buy 50 medela pump and freeze bags (which are also thrown away). The twist pouches are 17 cents each and are included in the 99 for 50 deal. I don't think the price is too high at 99 for 40. And, because I only use four nipples and two "bottles," I don't have to wash dishes or transfer bags. I also have a lot less storage space. So, for a few dollars more, I think the convenience and ease of use of the entire twist system is worth it. Yes, they would be a waste if you were only going to store them.

Is this a pre-made bag? Is it clean? Other milk storage bag brands, I've noticed, state that their bags are sterilized, whereas this description does not. ?

Even though the pouches are pre-sterilized, inspect the inside rim of each one before pouring your breast milk into it. In half of the pouches I received, there were black specks and lint. It does not appear to have been made using a sterile process. I believe the specks enter the factory when the lids are twisted on by hand.

I'm curious about the manufacturing location of this item. ?

Our products are all designed and tested in the United States before being manufactured in China. br>All of our products are thoroughly tested by third-party labs to meet stringent international standards, including FDA (including the stringent food extraction tests required by 21 CFR), CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission), and CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) requirements.

Is it true that the bags can be reused?

According to Kiinde's instructions, they're only meant to be used once. They, like the lids, are recyclable. In my work cooler, I started putting my bags in as ice packs.

Although the pouches appear to be sanitary, the concept is intriguing
3/5

For the past month, I've been using Kiinde twist pouches. I have a Spectra 9, and I purchased the adapters so that I could pump directly into the bags.
Pros:
- This system eliminates the need to pump into a bottle and then transfer to bags, which I find extremely convenient. This is fantastic because it reduces the amount of bottles that need to be cleaned.
- I can also keep a box of the bags at work so that I don't have to carry a couple of bottles with me on a daily basis. Only the flanges and pump need to be brought. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
- I used to use Lansinoh storage bags, but the twist cap on the Kiinde pouches takes up a lot more room. Because it does not freeze flat like the Lansinoh bags, it is also more difficult to organize in my freezer.
- It's difficult to tell how much milk is in the pouch and how much your baby is drinking without looking at the pouch. You must ensure that the bag is completely expanded. It's possible that if it's not fully expanded, you'll mistake it for a full ounce more than you actually have. br>- Despite the fact that the pouches take up a lot more room in my freezer and make it difficult to accurately measure milk, I'm deducting two stars because I found debris inside a few new unused pouches. I've thrown out about 5 pouches out of a box of 40 as a result of this. The first time, I noticed a couple of small pieces of what appeared to be card board, measuring about 2mm in width and standing out in a bag of white milk because they were brown. I was so irritated that I had to throw away an entire gallon of milk. I began inspecting the bags before using them from that point forward. For the most part, they appear to be clean, and any that have specks of anything in them, whatever they may be, will be thrown out. I've noticed white specks that I believe are small plastic pieces made of the same material as the bag. I've noticed dark brown specks that I'm not sure what they are. I just have my doubts about how clean these bags are. This has never happened to me with Lansinoh storage bags. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I've included two photos of two different pouches with debris inside, one of which clearly shows a brownish substance. A small white speck that I've pointed to with the tip of a pen can be seen in the second photo. I don't want my baby to drink this with breast milk while it's still small. br>br>UPDATE (August 1, 2016): Kiinde's customer service left me a message with instructions on how to contact them. When I did, they offered to send me a free box of twist pouches, explaining that the box I received was the result of a rare instance of poor quality control from an older batch and assuring me that their pouches are safe and sanitary. I thought it was a nice gesture, and I decided to keep using the pouches because I really want to make this work because it's a much more convenient concept for this working mom. I have an excess of twist pouches and have been stockpiling frozen milk, so I'm in desperate need of more. Since my last review, I've purchased 5 boxes of 80. I inspect each pouch before using it, and I've had to throw out about 10 pouches per box because I discovered brown specks inside; while this may not bother some people, I'd rather throw it out than have my baby eat it. br>br>The new pouches can hold 6 ounces, and the bags are larger. It also has a thicker, more durable feel to it. The bags' measurements, on the other hand, are incorrect. I put this to the test by filling a bottle with 4 oz of water and pouring it into the bag. The bag weighs 3 oz when fully stretched out. I went ahead and double-checked this by weighing the bag on a food scale, which confirmed that it was incorrect. Now, before I freeze any of my pouches, I weigh them all and write down the correct amount next to the date on the bag. br>br>In addition, the pouches are taking up a lot of freezer space. They don't stack as neatly as Lansinoh milk bags do. I'm at a point where I either need to purchase a freezer chest, return to using Lansinoh milk bags, or get rid of some of my frozen stock. I'm not willing to throw away any milk in case I get sick and run out, but I'm seriously considering reverting to Lansinoh storage bags. They're simply easier to keep track of.

KIINDE IS NOT A GOOD ITEM TO BUY
3/5

EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREME Several of my frozen milk bags were leaking from the top where it wasn't properly glued together, so I contacted Kiinde via email. They sent me two replacement boxes, claiming that they were now better because they changed their sanitizing process. Wrong! After sanitizing my pump parts, I pumped directly into these, ensuring that everything was clean, and this was floating in my baby's bottle after half of it had been consumed. We have ZERO bugs here in Michigan right now due to the freezing temperatures, so this is a dead bug of some sort. Especially if they have WINGS! I'm sick to my stomach. I sincerely hope my baby does not become ill as a result of this. I emailed the company a photo and a description, but I didn't hear back from them for about a week the last time. So we'll see how they react to this.

I've been using these bags for about two months and have told everyone I know about them
4/5

It may seem insignificant to be able to pump directly into the bags, but the time saved is well worth it. I also use the bottle system (which is great because it only requires washing one nipple), but that's a different review. The adapters are available for purchase, allowing you to use these with virtually any pump. They're a little pricey, but that's to be expected given that they're not like the less expensive zip-ups. system of locks br>The only reason I gave these four stars instead of five is that determining how many ounces are actually in the bags can be difficult. For example, I could pump 4 ounces into your bag and then warm it up to make it appear as if there are only 3 ounces in the bag. So, how many ounces are there? 3 or 4? Every time I heated a bag, the amount decreased by one ounce (from 6 to 5, then 5 to 4, and so on). I separated the ounces and poured them into one of the bags to see if the bags were close to the correct ounces. The ounces shown on the bag before it is warmed up are actually pretty accurate if it is fully opened. I took pictures of the bags being warmed up before and after to show the difference (I used colored water instead of breast milk because I didn't want to waste it!). So, for those who are curious, whatever you pump into the bag is the correct amount, and once it is warmed up, it will appear to be about an ounce less than there is. br>br>PROSbr>Secure br>br> Never leaksbr>Convenientbr>Easy to usebr>Time Saverbr>No wasted milkbr>br>br>CONSbr>A little priceybr>Storage takes up more space than other bagsbr>br>If you're on the fence about getting these, go ahead and get them. You will not be sorry! This was my fifth child, and I wish I had used them from the start. Breast-feeding and pumping are already time-consuming and difficult. It's a lot easier with these bags (and the system).

These are fantastic
3/5

Sanitary. Updated on August 27, 2016: br>I'm disappointed to report that a few of the pouches I received had black floating specks on the inside and on the opening's edge. I poured expressed milk into the package pictured before noticing the specks and had to throw it away. What the hell is going on with these? They're supposed to be sterile, right? These are fantastic. br>br> Sanitary, simple, and practical. My child adores the kiinde nipples, and I appreciate how simple they are to use. To be honest, the measurement is a little difficult to get used to, but I always start by pumping into my plastic medela bottles and then using that measurement.
