WOW. Just wow. After receiving an Ubbi, I had heard great things about the Twistr, so when my Ubbi began to stink, I went out and bought a Twistr. I saw the My Twistr on sale and decided to purchase it to match my nursery. I couldn't believe how small the box was when it arrived, and I was worried it wouldn't hold enough diapers, but it was not only simple to set up, but it also holds more diapers than my Ubbi. I quickly picked up on how to insert and remove the bag and now I adore it. Not only does the cute woodland creature print fabric I cut out using the template that came with the pail look great in my nursery, but I haven't smelled a diaper since I started using it. Truly! When I opened the top lid to drop a diaper in, my Ubbi smelled like dirty diapers, but with My Twist'R, it's amazing how odorless it is! My husband said we should have used it all along, which is saying a lot because he rarely says anything about our baby gear. I was so pleased with my purchase that I felt compelled to write a review, which I rarely do.
It doesn't have a strong odor and is simple to use. We have two children in diapers, and my wife has purchased numerous diaper pails that claim to work because they are made of steel, or because they eliminate odor by adding another scent, which only made the lavendery poo odor worse, or because there is some alleged magic in a trap door that drops the poop in the pail only to reward you with a blast of marinated poo odor from deep within. All of the pails we've used have left a lingering cloud over the nursery and family room, so I started taking the diapers to the outside trash each time. Now that it's cold outside, I don't want to walk outside to the trash multiple times a day, and neither does anyone else. My wife and sitter have stopped using the designer diaper pails we "had to have," instead leaving me a pile of dirty diapers 15 feet from the trash can outside the house. Lucky me. In our now-smelly garage, moist warm diapers. I was tired of it all and decided to either make one myself or find one that didn't smell and worked as a diaper pail should. I came across Twistr at that time. I saw this and thought it was a good idea, so I went out and bought my own diaper pail to add to my wife's stinky collection. It, thankfully, works. Now I don't have to go to Home Depot and MacGyver a solution; instead, I'm going to buy another Twistr for the nursery. It took a little getting used to the bags, but we all figured it out and are breathing easier as a result. I haven't smelled a diaper since using the bag because it twists so tightly. I discovered a cool setting for newborns that makes a looser twist so the lighter diapers fall down into the bag just as easily as a heavier toddler diaper would, but our kids are all capable of carrying heavy loads (and there will be no more newborns in our family-- We don't have to use it because we've had our fill), but it's still a handy feature. We go through a lot of diapers because we both work from home and have our children at home. We've been using this pail for about three weeks and are averaging about two bags per week with some seriously bulky diapers in sizes 4 and 5. I'm relieved to have discovered a pail that does exactly what it says it will and has saved me the daily trek to the trash cans.
As a result, I believe the My Twist'r is a lot simpler. Once upon a time, I watched a YouTube video on how to change bags. From there, it was fairly straightforward for me. Because I have a newborn, my diapers are small, but the best part is that this diaper pail has a New Born setting. That is truly incredible. I toss the diaper in there, step on the pedal a couple of times, and it's gone. I only have to step once after a couple of diapers, but I think I had to step twice for the first one, and the best part is that it doesn't smell if my husband forgets to step on the pedal. Those small charcoal bags in the lid, I believe, are the source of the problem.
Despite the fact that there were several soiled diapers in it, my wife had no idea I had started using it. . . but for the life of me, I can't remember how to change the bag without watching a YouTube video. So, while it works great, it's a bit of a pain because I need to change bags and don't want to watch the YouTube video again.
I bought four different diaper pails because I had twins and there were a lot of stinky diapers. They all smelled like a public restroom in New York City when they left. I came across this one and decided to give it one last shot, and it turned out to be the best decision I've ever made. Since then, I've purchased five of these, including one for the kitchen! My dog can't smell anything from this magnificent diaper machine. br>br>Assembly was nice and simple, and I liked that the face could be changed to match your decor.
I was under the impression that all you had to do was press the pedal and the diaper would drop in. . . this is not the case. To get the diaper to go down, you must first push your hand and diaper through the top layer, then repeatedly press the pedal. I like that it does what it says and keeps the odor contained, but I'm not sure I would have bought it if I knew I had to push my hand and dirty diaper through the opening.
