Questions & Answers

Is there a built-in speaker? How about a carbon filter?

The carbon filter packet does not have a holder. They gave you one, which I simply tossed to the bottom of the pile. My daughter has the larger model, which comes with a holder near the top. Her model also has a foot pedal, which I prefer. You must persevere on this one. It looks nice in the room, but I think I'd opt for the larger one with the holder and foot pedal if I was diapering all of the time, not just when my granddaughter comes to visit.

Is there a bag included?

Yes, it comes with a single pack that can hold up to 200 diapers, according to the package. There are no individual bags; instead, there is one large bag that you cut as it fills to make "a new bag," then cut again to make another, and so on.

Does it include all of the custom covers? You can't pick which one you want because there's no way to do so. 😒?

The covers must be ordered individually. Simply type 'Diaper Genie Expressions Cover' into the search box, and something should appear!

However, I would prefer that my home did not smell like a nursing home
5/5

This is being written under a fictitious name. You'll see why in a minute. This is the whiskers of a cat! br>br> I'd been meaning to get one for quite some time. I am an elderly man who has had prostate cancer for many years and suffers from urinary incontinence, which necessitates the use of Depends Guards (absorptive pads). Every day, I have to use several pads, and disposing of the soiled pads in my outdoor trash can isn't always practical. The issue is that the bag into which I would place the soiled pads has an unpleasant odor - ugh! Maybe it shouldn't matter because no one else lives here but me, but I'd rather my home didn't smell like a nursing home. br>br>Welcome to the world of the Playtex Diaper Genie! It's been about three weeks since I've used it, and there's no longer any odor! None! It fits next to the toilet and takes up about the same amount of space as a - It's only about 22 inches tall and less than a foot square. When the release button is pressed, the top springs open, revealing a spring-loaded gate that is hidden by the top of the plastic bag that the item (pad or diaper) will be placed in. When you press down on the item, the gate opens just enough to let you in, then closes, sealing the bag off from the rest of the open area. There is no odor when the top is closed or when it is in use. br>br>Can the "bag" hold a certain amount of stuff? In my case, the bag is good for about a week of use at home. Today is trash day, so I re-started the system and placed the third "bag" in the trash can for pickup later today. br>br>That brings me to another query I've come across: Is there a second bag included with the diaper genie? One "refill" is included in the genie. " I'm not sure what the "refill" is because I haven't used a full one yet. The "refill" is a soft but sturdy plastic tube (polyethylene, I assume). Pull a bit of the plastic out and tie the open end into a knot after inserting the "refill" into the genie. It's only necessary to tie one overhand knot. The knotted end is then gently pulled down toward the bottom of the empty genie, and the top is closed. This is NOT the "top" that is used to place items; You can see it by watching the video. You don't have to be too picky about how far down the knotted end is pulled. Don't overdo it because you can always adjust it later if your first pull was too "stingy. " You can now use the genie by closing the top. If you didn't pull the knotted end far enough, you can open the top again after putting some items inside (the spring-loaded compartment). No odor escapes because the loaded cover stays closed. ) and the contents' weight will help to pull a little more plastic out of the "refill" that is still in place. When you decide to renew the bag (either because it is full or just because you want to renew it), you open the top and pull more plastic out of the refill. br>br>When you decide to renew the bag (either because it is full or just because you want to renew it), you open the top and pull more plastic out of the refill. You lift the plastic up high, putting some tension on the refuse bag, and then slip the gathered plastic into the cutter clearly marked on the now-empty refuse bag with both hands. open top. Tie a knot in the free plastic at the top of the refuse bag, and you're ready to remove the closed bag from the genie and dispose of it. If you squeeze the excess air out of the bag before tying the knot, you'll be sorry and your nose will warn you not to do it again! br>br>Now tie a knot in the plastic that extends from the refill and pull it all the way down to the genie's bottom. You're ready to go when you close the top. I'm on my fourth "bag," and the refill has yet to run out. When I'm finished, I'll make a new post. br>br>I went out and bought a three-piece set. I packed the refill box because I wasn't sure how long the supplied refill would last, but you don't have to. Once you've decided how much you like the genie, you'll have plenty of time to order more refills. Each of the refills I bought claims to have 270 bags in it. They aren't really "bags," and the number of knots you have will depend on how generous you are with your knotting. I'm also not sure if the supplied refill is the same size or has fewer plastic feet. br>br>I might not live long enough to tell you how much was in it if the refill is good for 270 "bags. " br>br>I've been in diapers for nine years and wish I'd bought the Playtex Diaper Genie then! I could tell you how long the refill lasts if I had done that! Buy it with confidence. br>br> I didn't need the Expressions cover at all. "Your mileage may vary," says the author, "but I like white. ".

If you don't mind poop all over your clothes, get the Diaper Genie Delixe instead
3/5

Diaper genies come in two varieties. This one, as well as the deluxe, are excellent choices. Upgrade to the deluxe for an extra $10. The deluxe has a foot pedal to open the mechanism inside, whereas this one requires you to stick your hand inside and push back on a spring loaded flap while holding a dirty diaper, and poop smears inside the bag and on the flap, as well as getting on your hands. br>We have a deluxe room upstairs and a standard room downstairs. This one will be donated, and we will be purchasing a deluxe version.
I don’t understand why one company would release two models when one is 100% far better. It's time to retire this model.

It's a step up from the more costly models
5/5

This is our fourth diaper genie (we currently have three, one of which is broken). We love this one. br>br>Diaper Genie Essentials: We still have it in one of our children's rooms, but it broke almost immediately (less than a week after we first used it). The part that broke was the part that swings open to drop the diaper down to the bottom section, which we got for "free" as part of a bundle with the Diaper Genie Elite. It now only serves as a well-sealed trash can with a pricey bag. br>br>Diaper Genie Elite: This one is convenient because it uses a foot pedal to operate. We haven't had any problems with ours in two years. 5 years. br>br>Diaper Genie Deluxe: br>br>Diaper Genie Deluxe: br>br>Diaper Genie This one was purchased for the room of a second child. The part that traps the diapers and odors below is twice the size of the Elite, but the overall unit is about the same size, so there is less room for diapers. We couldn't agree on anything because of this. It did break, but that could have been as a result of my husband venting his rage on it. br>br>We used expressions instead of complete. The white plan is what we use. The top is easy to open; you do have to jam the diapers in, but it keeps odors at bay and holds a lot more diapers than the Complete or Elite. I wish we had started here instead of upgrading in the hopes of getting something better.

Push diapers are difficult to insert
3/5

The design of the bag is fantastic. There's no need to fiddle with the bags; simply tie knots and cut them. br>br>My biggest gripe, which I would not have purchased if I had known about it: You have to push the diapers through a spring shutter. The issue is that it is extremely stiff, making it difficult to push through with just one hand (as is typical when holding a baby). You must actually clench the diaper in your fist and push it through with your fist. You obviously don't want to do that if you're holding a poo-filled diaper. As a result, you'll have to use your other hand to push the lid open, which defeats the mechanism's purpose. br>br>As a result, I disassembled the unit and took out one of the springs. Even so, it's still a little difficult, but it's doable.

With the exception of the flap gate, this is a fantastic system
3/5

This took care of the issue of disposing of used diapers and other items associated with my elderly mother's care. If I had to do it all over again, I'd go with the more expensive product that doesn't have the trap door. This odor-sealing trap door is difficult to open, and I've discovered that when it's used, the user tends to push it open while sliding in the refuse, pulling the bag to one side, and it emptied the entire bag supply into the unit before the week was out the last time it was used. This is the element of ease of use that gets a two-star rating. br>br>I found replacement bags from other suppliers that were exactly the same as the ones I was given. The bags that were provided appeared to be part of a trail package because they were gone in three weeks. The generic bags lasted 6 weeks and there was still room in the cartridge for more. br>br>Hint: br>br> When the bag is nearly full, spin it to close the top, then shake the contents down hard to compress them. Use the cutter under the little with one swipe after you spin the bag to close it, and you can even squeeze down contents from outside, which will double the bag's life.
