Questions & Answers

What type of vacuum do we need for this aspirator? We'd have to buy something, so if anyone has any suggestions, please let us know. that it fits and isn't too costly. thank you?

Compatible with any vacuum cleaner with a hose diameter of 0. 90 inches to one foot 22 inches

If you don't have access to a vacuum, can you use the suction from your mouth to finish the job? Say, are you out errand-running?

You'll need to be quite muscular, but I don't see why not. Although the vac reduces a vacuum's suction to a manageable level, you may have some issues dealing with it as a result of your vac's design.

Is this safe to use as an adult nasal decongestant?

Yes! It's something that both my husband and I have used when we couldn't clear our sinuses by simply blowing, and it definitely works. It's more difficult to achieve a good vacuum seal than with our children, but it's still possible. We use it on our 5-year-old twins and wish we'd known about it when they were younger.

Is this something that can be carried on a shark navigator lift? professional vacuum cleaners away?

I've got a shark navigator on my team. I'm not sure if there is a lift available. This item is not suitable for my shark.

BETTER THAN NOSE FRIDA
5/5

*UPDATE* After a long stay in the hospital with our two-year-old. Our directions were straightforward. Maintain his comfort, but suction his nose because his oxygen levels were dropping while he slept. That is the last thing any mother wishes to hear. I knew I needed something similar to what the hospital uses, and I needed it quickly, so I ordered this at noon on discharge day (today), and it arrived before we could unpack. I have the frida nose, which I like, but this one had more punch. My Dyson vacuum cleaner worked well with it. Tonight, we'll all be able to breathe a little easier. Thank you very much! br>br>*UPDATE 2021* It's been four years since the last update. I had to replace the old aspirator because it had been broken. Also excellent is the new one. The suction level is determined by the vacuum you have. CAUTION AND TMI It worked so well on my now 6-year-old that he coughed up mucus. He's taking in a lot more oxygen. Thank you once more, from a relieved mother who can finally sleep. br>br>I also mix a little carrier oil with a drop of eucalyptus oil and apply it to his chest (vapo rub).

I'm actually surprised at how much I enjoy it
5/5

I was addicted to Frida's nose, and I was irritated that my husband had purchased it! But I'm addicted now. It's a lot more productive than the nose frida, and it doesn't make me dizzy as I try to suck the snot out in one big breath while my child flails and screams. br>br>Overall, it has excellent suction and does an excellent job of clearing snot from my baby's nose. There are a few disadvantages. br>br> To begin with, it isn't really a one-person job. One person should hold the vacuum cleaner and the other should hold the child's nose. Another issue is that running your vacuum is extremely loud. Our child does not seem to mind, but because it is so loud, it is not practical to use in the middle of the night. br>br>I still recommend it, though I'd keep the manual nose sucker on hand for times when you're alone or at night.

Like Roseanne's return, I was disappointed
3/5

I had high hopes, but they were dashed. I really, really wanted to like this product, like really, really wanted to like it! I've used the NoseFrida a million times, but I'm getting on in years and can only suck for so long through a tube. This is what I discovered! I don't have to do anything if it's connected to my Dyson? What is the location of my signature? Yes, it's terrifying for a three-year-old when I get it all set up - But here's the thing: What's even scarier: Choose your battles carefully if you have an ear infection. He preferred it to the NoseFrida because I could turn it on and tell him, "Look, mommy is doing it" - I got into position, switched it on, and walked in. Where did it come from, holy snot? It was NoseFrida on a high! It just kept on coming! It's amazing and gratifying all at the same time! The tip just broke off as I was picturing myself accepting my mother's award for the year. Plop, plop, plop, plop, plop, plop, It isn't my first rodeo, after all. What did you just say? There's no tip, just the shards of the sharp plastic from which it shattered. That was the end of my pleasure. My husband is now adamant that I will never be able to approach our child with such a device, and I despise it when he is correct. Gonna e- I'd like to notify the seller because I don't want it to happen to anyone else. Oh no, especially if you weren't paying attention at the time.

Sucks up the snot but not the brains of your children
5/5

Because my son's adenoids are enlarged, he is constantly snotty. Bulb syringes, battery-operated snot sucker outters, and the 'Nose Frieda' manual mouth sucking apparatus have all been used previously.
1. When I had to get in there to reach a deep seated snot clog, the bulb was damaging his sensitive nasal passages and occasionally causing him to bleed (he's a thrasher who won't sit still for nasal cleanings). The battery vacume is simply insufficient to extract anything other than the watery drippings at the nasal passage's entrance. and 3. The Nose Frieda is great; it doesn't irritate his nasal passages and gets the snot out quickly, but with the amount of snot I have to suck out and his thrashing, I'd get light-headed and wish I had a third hand. br>br>Now this bad boy is a God send! My five-year-old son is autistic and a force to be reckoned with. I'd have to wrestle with him for a long time because, in his opinion, 'daddy's going to hurt my nose again,' so he'd punch, kick, scream, and thrash. I've ended up with black eyes, bruised arms and legs, which I'd gladly put up with if it weren't for the emotional harm it was doing to my poor boy. The amount of time it takes to clean your nose has changed dramatically. When my son sees me coming with the vacuum and aspirator, he says no at first, but then sits still for his cleanings because he knows it will be over quickly and he won't have anything poke the inside of his nose. When I first showed it to him, I let him squirt some aerosol saline solution into my nose, then I used the aspirator on myself, exclaiming, "that tickles!" while giggling again, I offered to let him use it on me. I told him it was his turn, squirted saline in his nose, and proceeded to tickle his nose. Now neither of us will have to go through any more trauma! br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
1. Because you're using a vacuum cleaner to operate it, it's quite loud. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Doesn't fit all vacuum hoses, but a little masking tape around the connector end will fix that quickly. Advantages: br>br>
1. Suction power! Note that I tested this on myself first to see if it would be too strong for a child to handle, but it is gentle thanks to the product's air flow chamber design. br>br>2. Because the end you insert into the nose is wider than a bulb syringe, it creates a better seal and doesn't need to be inserted as far into the nasal passage as a bulb syringe. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. Running water through it is an easy way to clean it. 4. br>br> With a typical unwilling participant, this method is simple and quick to use.

Good, but I'm concerned about my vacuum cleaner
3/5

After reading rave reviews and getting a recommendation from my daughter's preschool class, I decided to purchase it. It's what we use on our Costco-purchased Dyson ball animal upright. It was easy and straightforward the first time we used it until the Dyson stopped working. I was afraid the aspirator would damage our pricey vacuum. br>br>After reading Dyson's debugging methods, we discovered that it had tripped the thermal warning and that we would have to wait 2 hours to turn it back on. It's a blessing that it worked. Advantages: br>br> br>Effective, but there's a lot of snot. br>br>Major Disadvantage: Concerns about the vacuum motor burning out as a result of the resistance caused by the small opening. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. br>The nozzle is quite large, almost too large to get into the infant's nose deeply enough. br>You'll need a big vacuum, which will be loud and possibly make your child dislike vacuums. br>Cleaning will be difficult. The brush that comes with the kit does not reach the widest part of the nose part.
