Questions & Answers

Greetings to everyone. Is it safe to do this on alloy rims? ('02 honda accd.) I removed the brake build-up and sprayed them with rust-olium. Thank you (factory rims)?

Honda's factory wheels are made of aluminum alloy and are painted. Either clear coat or a dark gray sparkle color.

Is this going to work on xd grenade wheels?

This product is intended for use with OEM clear coated and chromre wheels. We don't know what kind of finish those wheels have, but aftermarket wheels are notoriously sensitive to wheel cleaners, so we recommend our Ultimate All Wheel Cleaner instead.

Is it safe to do this with factory chrome rims?

Yes, as long as you dilute it, it is safe for any factory coated wheel. Raw billet wheels, on the other hand, will be ruined by it. So long as it's clear coated or factory coated, you'll be fine; it performs admirably.

On bare metal, this stuff packs a punch
5/5

Careful! On bare metal, this stuff is pretty potent, so keep that in mind. When straight acidic cleaners aren't available (or, apparently, illegal), this stuff is recommended by professionals all over the world. br>br>In practice, you should always use as little as possible to complete a task. So try soapy water and a brush first, but if you still can't get your wheels clean (or water spots off of paint - see below), Glass is not an option. If you do, this is a fantastic cleaner. It has a pleasant aroma to it. Like black cherry, in a way. Doesn't obstruct the flow of information acidic cleaners, for example, can produce a lot of gas. bare aluminum wheels WILL be etched. br>br> Don't whine because your custom wheels were ruined; instead, read the directions and educate yourself before going all out. ho, and get to work cleaning. Water spots, baked-on brake dust, and other contaminants will be removed as a result of this procedure. Diluted, it won't do much harm. I get it all the time on my hands, and it hasn't burned me yet. But I'm not sure I'd drink it. The purpose of this product is to remove water spots, not to clean the rims
3/5

I liked that it was acid-based because there isn't much else in the detailing world that cleans rims as effectively and efficiently as acid. However, this product is insufficient and will not clean your rims without physically touching them, which is why I purchased it; it is not worth the risk to your rims because it will not clean them completely and you risk being uneven. As a result, it's good for removing water spots because it's not as strong as a full-on acid bath, so it won't burn your windows. When spraying from a spray bottle, be careful because it is an acid. Do not breathe it in.

Fantastic Cleaner for Your Wheels! This brightener for the wheels is fantastic
5/5

I've tried a lot of the consumer-grade products at auto parts stores, and they're not even close to Meguiar's Wheel Brightener in terms of effectiveness. Don't let the fact that it's acid-based scare you. People become alarmed when they learn that it is acid-based. Acid is available in a variety of forms and strengths. Acidic ingredients such as lemon juice and vinegar are used. We, on the other hand, are unconcerned about it. Use on anodized or polished aluminum wheels only, as stated on the bottle. It's not a huge deal even if you use it on polished aluminum wheels. The polish is removed by using a wheel brightener. All you have to do now is re-polish them. Simply follow the instructions and dilute the wheel brightener with 4 parts water to 1 part wheel brightener. Use a liberal amount on the wheel and agitate the product all around the wheel with the appropriate brushes after rinsing the wheel, tire, and wheel well. Rinse the wheel thoroughly. If at all possible, use a pressure washer to aid in the cleaning process.

Cleans up in half the time
5/5

First and foremost, do not be alarmed by the presence of acid. That simply means that it is acidic on the pH scale. Let me tell you something. It's the same with the contents of your stomach. That doesn't mean you should drink it (or even get it on your skin if you can avoid it), but it does mean it won't harm your rims IF you use it correctly and follow the instructions. Keep a close eye on the dilution ratios and the direction. Only use on the wheels that have been recommended. If you stick to OEM wheels, I believe you'll be fine. ones that have a clear coat on them - You SHOULD be fine if you stay away from aluminum and avoid aluminum wheels, but if you're not sure, check with your wheel manufacturer. If you're still not sure, try it out on a small area of one wheel. If you're still undecided, try using a different wheel cleaner. You should be able to polish aluminum wheels after using this product, I believe. As a result, they'll be spotless but a little drab. br>br>When I first used this product, I couldn't believe how quickly it worked on my wheels. I knew it was good stuff, but I was under the impression that my wheels were in good shape. They weren't exactly spotless, as it turned out. This stuff did, at the very least, remove a lot of gunk. When using this product (or any chemical for that matter), I strongly advise you to use eye protection, especially if you're using a brush that could "sling" any part of the product back into your face. When I first used this product with a new wheel brush, I put on my sunglasses, and I'm glad I did. I no longer use any chemical that does not come with eye protection. This is merely a friendly recommendation. br>br>Be sure to rinse your wheels before using this product, as you want to use it on cool wheels. Oh, and an acid-resistant sprayer might come in handy. It's possible that you'll require a few. I put this in a Bona floor cleaner spray bottle (without the Bona product) because I believe their sprayer is the most acid/chemical resistant on the market. Sprayers can last a day or a lifetime. Good luck, and don't worry if you don't understand words like acid; we didn't all take chemistry in high school (though I believe we all SHOULD have!).

If your wheels have been sanded down due to curb rash, this is not the best option
3/5

It's a pain to work with this stuff. You'll notice any spots you didn't soak completely if you don't soak everything completely. You'll need a hose or a spray bottle full of water to do this; It'll streak, and it'll stick out like a thorn in the flesh. br>br>My main issue with this is that even if you clean your entire wheel with it, if any part of the wheel surface has been sanded down due to curb rash, that area will turn a whitish color. Yeah. You're golden if you have cheap, crappy factory wheels with no machine finish. br>br>If you have cheap, crappy factory wheels with no machine finish, you're golden. You're in luck if your wheels are coated. If you have a set of factory wheels that has become quite popular: Be wary of machine finish black/coated areas, unless the surface is 100% unblemished.
