At the time I reviewed them, I had them on for 3 months, during the summer, and they looked great. The fit was perfect, and they looked great. Now that we are one year from now, and we have been through the fall and are approaching winter in NY, they look like complete junk. As I do not want to spend more money on another set, and benefit from the bad quality of this product, I am currently looking for a different option. I believe you will eventually encounter this issue as well.
During the lock change, a key broke inside. The key I have is not working, so I need to order a new one. I should make a note to myself. Please do not use an impact gun to install. I don't think anyone would be able to remove these without a key, considering how hard it has been for me to remove them with a key.
When my previous chrome set from AutoZone started to rust on my Jeep Wrangler spare over 6 years ago, I was upset. My goal was to find a stainless steel set so I didn't have to worry about it again. Having found none, I THOUGHT that this black set from McGard would be as close as it gets. I was wrong in so many ways! Three weeks later, this set had already rusted! (Of course, it's winter in Ohio right now, there's salt on the road. But that's life).
The reviews I have read suggest I'm not alone in my opinion - This morning, I got a phone call from my shop telling me the key broke. My tires are locked in place because of these locks, so I spent another $40 to get them off.
looked up a bit more and they seem to be more highly recommended than other Only thing I would need to change about them is that I wish they came in matte black.
Discount Tire had to remove the lock lugs on my Jeep with a special lock removal tool and it took them over an hour to get them off and they only managed to get 2 of the 5 off in the end. It seems that the inside of the lock socket is defective. I will post pictures when I return I would also like to reiterate They changed the design and I now can't get my other 3 off. I ordered these when I couldn't find a store to get the other 3 off. It's a good effort by McGard. You should at least have a sale link for the replacement key, but even on your new website, it's the new look.
I have used them on other cars and they have worked perfectly. Make sure you leave the "key" with your mechanic so that.
