If you're in need of a back-up plan, this is the place to If you're wondering if you need these because you just put SCC tire chains in your cart, the answer is NO. The SCC chain kits include a spare, so buy them only if your main chain breaks or if you want to double-check your work. or a threefold redundancy (which is something I would like to have). br>br>Having said that, these are high-quality, well-made items. The items are well-packaged and delivered on time. Happy ice/snow-making! driving! I'm hoping you've got four-wheel drive.

Instead of snow tires, use these

These have yet to be put to use. We did a test application on my son's car before he left for college in Maine, and it will be much easier next time; we're using these instead of snow tires for the limited driving he'll be doing. Currently, it is less expensive than snow tires.

During the first big snowfall of the year, I had to use a bungee cord. It's ironic that the winter in which all four of my tires have low tread is also the year in which the winter is unusually long. To get home and into my driveway, I had to use my chains five times. In any case, it has not been a good year. However, the arrival of these tighteners made the entire process far easier and safer than it would have been otherwise. br>br>However, I had some difficulty determining which size I required. These are listed as 5-star reviews in the SCC catalog. Only the packs are available. However, if you use the same item on Amazon, you'll get a single set, which is fantastic.

Many reviewers stated that the ones that come with the Security chains will eventually break, so having these as backups is a good idea. oops, I bought them because they were ridiculously cheap. The originals have been replaced with exact replicas. I'm grateful for the added security of having them in the trunk bag.
