No matter what kind of hood you have on your vehicle, the Lisle 45900 hood prop will hold it up.
Removing the hood prop will allow the vehicle to be driven. Compress the prop rod while simultaneously pushing the flat levers (2 of them) toward the smaller end of the prop. There will be times when the levers will jam because of the weight of the hood. I tap them with either a block of wood or the handle end of the screwdriver if this occurs.
can retract or release the hood prop by using the levers situated on the side of the prop.

I ordered it when the prop bar on my wife's 2000 Honda Civic snapped. It was not worth spending so much money on a factory/dealership replacement since I knew it would be expensive and thought it would be better spent on something else. A cheap rod was what I expected. My intention was to purchase a hood stand to prevent the hood from falling down on my head but I was pleasantly surprised at their quality. Rubber tipped ends prevent it from sliding from the spot you place it and the height can be adjusted to fit any situation. Despite the fact that it can be telescopiced back to the smallest size, it is lightweight and small enough to fit into the back seat and not be a hindrance.
According to the manufacturer, the hood prop is effective. In our shop we get a lot of broken hood struts. This tool is convenient to have since it collapses in a small size. The only reason I rated 4 stars off is because the lock system chewed up the paint when used. You can hear it screeching horribly when you open it. I am the only one who opens it when I start working. While I do not know if I got a defective unit, or if it was just a design flaw, this is ultimately still a fine hood prop if it doesn't bother you.
At first, I did not know how to use it, but it was a very good product. Here are the answers to the questions. The problem has been resolved. In the case of the product, usage requirements should have been clearly spelled out.
The best investment you will ever make! It has a lot of great features. Since I work on so many cars, the hood supports have worn out and won't hold the hood up. There is nothing wrong with the Lisle Hood Prop when it comes out. You can also use this tool when entering the engine compartment and the factory hood prop gets in your way, you can let the prop rod down and simply place the Lisle Hood Prop off to one side out of the A brake light on a vehicle might be too dim and may not be visible? I'm very happy with the Lisle Hood prop. All you have to do is place one end on the brake pedal and extend the other end to the steering wheel, and you have a prop rod that you can use You no longer need to ask someone to give you a look at the brake lights. Having trouble opening the hood properly? Do you need the hood prop to open further? Expand the Lisle Hood Prop to its full length, and you will now be able to access your underhood with more ease. I think this is a tool worth every penny as I use it every single day.
I have owned a few hood supports that were flimsy in overall design and gave way when any type of weight was applied to them. I doubt that will be an issue with this hood support because it is heavy duty! In addition to holding open vehicles' hoods and back hatches, I like to use this type of support for a variety of equipment repairs. It works great for holding open any sort of access panel and door. It worked well for some commercial equipment that had access panels that need to be held open, and I worked on a project that required this support. In addition to rehab work for kitchens and baths, I have used this technology while doing some of that Support such as this is handy when you have no place to attach a bungee and you need to hold a panel open or to provide some additional support while working alone.
I used the prop for a few car shows but had to open the hood to keep the prop working. While it is sturdy, it was not made to perform on stage. A brushed aluminum one caught my eye. I use it for shows because it is lightweight. For use in the garage, this prop is excellent.
My car hood needs to be propped up at night to discourage small creatures from nesting inside the engine. As I'm using a long prop arm on my new car every day, this can be a real pain in the arse. Rather than using a hood prop, a mechanic friend suggested that I try using a hood prop. The reviews were good for this product, so I chose it. There was mention of it being heavy, and I liked that. My experience with it is excellent. I've used it for several weeks now and it's awesome.
I'd like it to be a little lighter than it is. Although the metal is thick and will outlast a lifetime, I feel that it is overbuilt, unless you are dealing with heavy-duty situations. A commercial vehicle that is used for heavy work It can be designed with lighter materials in vehicle types such as automobiles Does aluminum exist?.
