It can be stolen actually, but a cable lock can be used to secure it if needed. With all the camping places we have camped at, we haven't had any theft issues.
The buzzing inside mine was caused by leaking water inside the device and shorting When I emailed Camco and inquired about the repair of these very expensive units, they informed me there was no repair available. Make sure you are aware of what you are purchasing.
I believe so. On one end you plug the 30 amp cord from the camper into the pedestal outlet and on the other end you plug the 30 amp cord on the pedestal into the outlet on the pedestal. Power will run through the camper and the diagnostics will be completed. Once it is on, it will connect power

The power defender may shut down your system if we detect that it can draw more than 30 amps. Up to 50 amps of electricity is provided at the camp site by the 50 amp pole. You can go over 30, but don't go over 40.
I am SO VERY thankful that there wasn't a fire cause by this unit while we were in the coach! It gets so hot that it completely fuses itself to the cord while we are at a campground! There was no problem on the coach's side so I have no idea why this happened or why it did not prevent it. My coach is relatively new, so I have no idea why this happened or why it did not prevent it. There are two possibilities either I had a defective unit or the whole thing is simply dangerous and poorly constructed. It was not a simple matter of splicing on another plug-in, it was much more complicated Because I did not want anything not sealed properly, I had to spend thousands of dollars to replace the entire coach 50A cord/plug since it completely melted to the plug. I replaced it with a completely different It's certainly not worth it to do it again! If you decide to order this, you should keep a close eye on it. We wish you all the best of luck and a great camping experience!.
According to the product, it appears to be in working order. In my experience, the value of this device is pretty good for its price. I used an expensive voltage surge protector until it simply stopped working after just three years. As I travel through America in my RV, I've been using this voltage protector. So far, I have not had any problems with the surge protector. I have also stayed at RV parks that are highly rated It is difficult to see the indicator lights during the day because they are so small. Even at night, they appear very bright. It is essential that the RV contains a product card. On the back side of the device, there is a chart that is not easily accessible when the product is mounted on I am here because of the bright yellow color. A lock can be installed on the outlet box in order to secure it. In my opinion, two of the most important questions are "Will this surge protector be able to detect a voltage problem and will it last long?"? In my first rating of this product, I gave it a 3 There are stars. In my experience with this product on three RV journeys, I have lowered my evaluation of it. The Power Defender does not protect against rain. It appears that some thundershowers caused water to leak into Rain residue caused the electrical wiring to short out due to the small amount of moisture in the component. As a result, the product has no value. In my home, I opened the device to determine the problem and see if it could be fixed. A week and a half after the thunder storm, most electrical surfaces had corrosion and a layer of moisture on them. To seal the cover on the back, Camco uses silicon. But they still missed a good deal of the upper part of the device. I won't get into these expensive voltage protectors anymore. My plan is to test the faulty one out again and disconnect it during rainy season. After it has been dried out in the sun, it should work. line is that you should not buy this product unless it is discounted The first time I reviewed this product, I gave it My RV was equipped with a Camco Power Defender three times during my RV journey. My most recent trip led me to discover that this product is not rain resistant. There is some evidence that a small amount of water will cause the defender to misread the voltage and indicate a non-functioning device The problem is already there.
As soon as she turned on the air conditioner, the wife unpacked everything. It took her only a few seconds to turn on every light in the trailer and turn on the radio. The air conditioner was blowing hard, so with the refrigerator running, all the lights on, the lights on, the radio on, it was just too much for our little RV. By turning off the Power Defender, it shut down everything without tripping the main breaker or any other breakers or fuses. When I turned off all the lights and the A/C, it reset about 5 minutes later, and we were back to full power! In the end, I think this thing saved our camping trip and was very effective. As a result of this experience, we are very happy with the product and would recommend it highly.
In the past eight weeks, I used this surge protector Item #55301 eight times before it stopped After contacting Camco, I was told to send it in for a In addition, it was out of warranty, since the terminals were shot and the machine could not be repaired. I sent a number of emails back and forth about using the surge protector while camping, and their Customer Service Representative told me I should have put it in a trash bag to keep it dry. words, it is not a viable item for use in a camping setting. This is amazing! You can save money by getting a different brand.
