Questions & Answers

What is the exact height of the item once it has been assembled, as well as the mechanical arm's length?

Fully extended, the top of the arm measures 87" Hook is positioned at a height of approximately 74 feet. 5". 69" from the elbow to the tip of the forearm. 30" swivel point at the top of the base

It attaches to the truck's side. Is it possible to adjust it so that it pivots from the truck's center?

The beam that is attached to the hitch can easily be slid back and forth. The only issue you'll have to deal with is getting clearance for the crane's legs. It loads easily into the center of the truck bed as designed, and it can also be moved out to load into the bed's edge. It covers the majority of the ground. You'll need the "pick-and-place" option if you want to mount in the bed's actual center. a "up"br>style crane with a flat mount plate that bolts to the truck's floor

Would it be difficult to get a generator on the tailgate/bed if I had a cap on the truck and the arm hit the cap door?

No, but you'd have to put the generator on the tailgate and push the truck in the rest of the way.

Is it possible for me to load and unload my fifth-wheel hitch?

If the hitch doesn't exceed the lift's maximum lift capacity, i.e. 1000 lbs for the short and 500 lbs for the long, I believe you could pick it up and place it on top of your tailgate and partially into the truck bed. because of the longer extension It won't put the hitch in the exact center of your truck bed. That isn't possible because the extension isn't long enough. It would have to be slid into the bed from the open end. My primary use for mine is to lift a large generator into the bed of my truck. I hope this information is useful to you.

A bottle jack should be placed beneath the hitch
4/5

If you don't put a bottle jack under your truck's hitch before you load it, you might have trouble disconnecting it when the truck's suspension sinks under the weight of the load in the bed.

It was something I really wanted to like
3/5

This appeared to be the ideal solution for soft ground where wheeled dollies would sink. The lift is well-designed and built, as well as well-packaged. All of the snap-ins are appealing to me. pins. Unfortunately, the boom is far too short to be useful (my skis are four feet long). under 2'-wide (and this couldn't reach my ski's center), under 2'-wide (and this couldn't reach the center of my ski). reach the bottom of the lift- capacity (as shown in the diagram) and accessibility (as shown in the diagram). For heavier objects, the situation is even worse. Worst of all- My skis are 840-pounds, so that's a factor for me. pounds. When attempting to lift the ski on the 500-foot lift, the hydraulic ram would vent. I didn't have much range, and I couldn't get very far- sufficient at the 1000-person level range. To effectively lift almost anything into the bed, the boom must be twice as long. concept of a star A+ performance. In the end, I had no choice but to use my engine crane.

This hitch crane works perfectly and assembles on the job site in minutes, so I'm very happy with it
5/5

This was purchased to help me lift wood into my F250, which is usually too heavy for me to handle manually. This crane worked perfectly and without a hitch. It lifted freshly cut oak rounds with a diameter of about 3 feet without difficulty, as I can attest. Following are a few points to consider based on previous comments. I have an F250, and the hitch height was perfect, but I did notice that the legs are height adjustable, so I don't think it would be an issue for lower trucks. When the truck was fully loaded, disassembly was simple and I didn't have any of the problems that others had. The lift is a little slow due to the pump action, but it did lift some fairly heavy rounds, as previously mentioned. Furthermore, the construction appeared to be fairly strong, with good welds, as nothing flexed even under the most extreme loads. br>br>Now, the instructions for the first assembly were dreadful. For example, there are four total bolts in three different sizes, but the instructions only mention "bolt," so proper assembly required some guesswork. Still, it didn't take long to put together, but there's one flaw I'd like to see the manufacturer address. However, once the initial assembly is completed, this thing goes up on the job site in minutes.

generator lifter of the highest order I gave it five stars because it meets all of my needs
5/5

Please see the image attached. Because the arm doesn't reach very far, I had to move my generator to the outside of the lift, jack it up, and then place it on the tailgate to get into the truck's bed. It's not a big deal for me because everything is on the tailgate, so I don't have to crawl in and out to attach and detach it. br>Everything arrived in good condition, with a few dents on the box but no damage to the product. br>The first time I put it together (and figured it out), it took me about 20 minutes, but now that it's all put together and in three pieces, it'll only take me one minute. It only takes 2 minutes to set up and take down. br>Rather than relying on someone else to help me, it works perfectly for me to do everything I need on my own.

This will also come in handy when it comes time to load the pressure washer
5/5

Problem: My Generac 8000E generator will be used to power lights for a "trunk or treat" event in the church parking lot. It has a weight of 255 pounds. I need to load it onto my DW's GMC Sierra 2500 HD for transport to church and then unload it. Solution: MaxxHaul 70238 Receiver Hitch Mounted Crane with 1000 pound lifting capacity close to hydraulic jack and 500 pound lifting capacity at crane end. I ordered it from Amazon and received it two days later via UPS. It took about an hour to unpack and assemble from the battered shipping box. The instructions were brief, but the illustrations were enough to guide you through the process. There were no missing parts, but there was an extra hitch pin and lock pin. Following assembly, I rigged a pair of axle straps on the generator's frame, lifted it with the crane, and placed it on the truck's tailgate. The generator was rolled into the truck's bed, strapped down, and the MaxxHaul crane was broken down into three pieces and placed in the truck's bed. I drove to church, reassembled the crane, and unloaded the generator from the truck in about two minutes. Two young men helped me load the genny onto my truck after the event. I brought it home and reassembled the crane (it took about a minute this time, practice helps), unloaded the generator from the truck, then disassembled the crane into its three main parts and stored it in the garage, ready for the next lifting job. This will also come in handy when loading the pressure washer and the 5th wheel sliding hitch, both of which are too heavy for this old man to load and unload on his own. With this crane, you can do a lot of different things.

It's sturdy, but it's a pain to set up, and it only reaches halfway into the pickup bed
3/5

This unit is sturdy, but it is difficult to erect and only reaches a short distance into the pickup bed. It also lacks a winch, which means that unless you can get right over your load, you'll have to rig up straps and use the crane to drag the load under the winch before re-rigging it. Set up a strap to lift the load. Final assembly (mounting the boom) is described as a two-person task in the instructions. I'd just pick up the load if there were two of us around! (The boom is heavy and unwieldy, but it can be put together by one person. ) ) Anyway, it does what it claims to do, but due to the limited reach into the pickup, I would not buy it again.

A receiver hitch with a rating of must be used
3/5

You'll need a receiver hitch that's at least 18 inches long. This will only work if you are 19" off the ground. My receiver is 15 1/2" off the ground, which makes it impossible to connect this product; they should warn people about this. My receiver now works after I purchased a $40 adapter that raises it 4".

This isn't a low-intensity exercise
3/5

This left was purchased primarily for the purpose of lifting and lowering my RV propane tanks into the fiberglass compartment without damaging the body. The tanks weigh about 60 pounds, which was becoming too much for me at this point in my life; however, this is a sturdy and well-built lift. Although I don't think the outrigger supports are necessary in my situation, I can see how they could be problematic. The vehicle cannot be moved once it has been lowered. I'm also curious how you'd get the supports retracted without having to jack up the truck once you've loaded it with a heavy load that lowers it. While this hoist serves me well, I believe I would have been better off investing in a game hoist for this operation.
