I haven't used this tool yet, but after needing to borrow one from a neighbor for my last fuel pump change, I decided it was time to get my own.
The spring band is pushed away from the fitting by a taper molded in the wrong direction on the insert. When making the mold for this, it appears that someone misread the drawing. The design is flawed. A different tool had to be used. It was a waste of money.
I live in Arizona and work in the HVAC industry, and I believe that these two tools are the most effective for AC lines.
They were purchased as an add-on to one of their kits.
To make this work with my 1987 Ford fuel and AC lines, I had to grind out the inside of the smallest one (the raised area was too thick to fit into the required gap). That was fixed in 5 minutes with a grinding wheel, and it worked perfectly after that.
It's a good idea to have a tool like this on hand.
