How to remove the radio from your VW and how to avoid booby traps
5/5

To take apart a VW radio, you will need these items. The keys that I'm using are the strongest that I've used so far. There is a risk of losing these radios if you attempt to remove them. In the event that it does not slide out easily when these keys are inserted, then the rubber mount on the radio is stuck to the back of the plastic The glove compartment has to be removed for you to access the mount. You wil damage the radio or injure the keys if you keep pulling hard on them. The radio is sliding out if you have already managed to loosen it. If the radio is now loose, there is one more booby trap to watch out for. In some instances, the slack in the antenna wire can wrap around a piece of the rear radio housing, causing the radio to appear to bind halfway You will rip the antenna wire from the radio if you continue to pull it, damaging the wire end or the antenna wire socket on the radio if you continue to pull. When attempting this task, you should be careful. You will need these keys to begin and you will need to remove the glove box. When you remove the glove box, you have limited access to the back of the radio and may need to pry the mounting box from it or remove the radio itself The antenna wire is tangled.

A quality control issue results in an uneven size, resulting in keys getting stuck and causing It's a good idea to use these carefully
3/5

Upon receiving the key, it was oversized, resulting in it being trapped in the head unit and not being able to be released. I searched forums and contacted the vendor (very responsive A+) for assistance, unfortunately all their recommendations were based on something wrong with the radio mechanism, I had to open the radio case and snap off the mechanism in order to free the key. This is what you'll get if you order them. Before you insert the keys into the radio unit, make sure they are in good condition. Take a look at the.

There may be a need to trim
3/5

All of these different tools are not sized the same and not all of them are sized correctly. In my picture, there are two people. Neither the top nor the bottom have a problem inserting or removing. I inserted the bottom one and it By slanting it through an opening in the radio, I was able to get it out sideways. Whenever possible, compare all the tools before use. The smallest ones should be used first, then the larger ones, depending on whether the smallest work. In the end, I cut the extra thickness with metal tin snips and it now works perfectly! I noticed that the metal was a bit thin and there is now a slight bend after two uses (not the result of Although it still works, I do wish it was twice as thick to make it more durable. I like the handles made of plastic because they are not uncomfortable and do not pinch my fingers. In my opinion, I would buy it again for the price. I have the glove size small for use on a 2019 VW Golf Base radio.

These were so nice, I bought two of them
5/5

I received them in the mail really quickly, so quickly that I had to wait two weeks to receive the parts for my new stereo installation. My being extremely absent minded is to blame for me losing them in those two weeks, looking everywhere in vain, but being unable to find them, which leads me to my entire point of raising this issue. These removal tools are usually awful, they hurt your fingers or fit poorly or won't release properly. was impressed with the quality of the products, so much so that I ordered a second set for the same price as the first set instead of buying cheap-looking ones This is my second attempt at the game. My fingers weren't hurt at all and they worked perfectly, released well, did not bend and did not bend. It is worth spending the extra couple of dollars to get these. You could use them many times over if needed, and if you need them only for one project, then at least they won't cut or hurt your hands. I give it a 10/10 and would buy it.

It could be improved, but it seems to be working
4/5

My 2005 Audi S4 has the Symphony II double din stereo. I used these in the cabin. Though they work, they are really tight fitting. My thought is that if I have to use them again, I will take some sandpaper and smooth down all sides of the metal blade part so they are easier to insert and remove. As I was trying to push one of them in, one of them bent upwards and had to be straightened. To remove them, you need to pull a lot and wiggle, and the plastic grip makes this easier. There is, however, a slot for the locking mechanism that appears to be just right.

I think this will work
4/5

Overall, these keys are good, they're built very well, and they seem to be The workers did a good job of pulling out my head unit, but the metal cut a bit during the removal. Therefore, we give it 4 stars based on the price and the fact that it actually worked.

I use it on my MK7 GTi without any issues
5/5

The purpose of this purchase was to remove the media unit located in the glove box of my VW MK7 GTI. had to hook up these tools over night, as I needed to access the speaker wires in order to connect I was able to remove the unit on my first attempt with the tools that arrived quickly. They are strong enough to hold up to heavy use, but thin enough to be able to stow easily. It is nice that the handles are plastic coated, not only for comfort, but also for quick identification in a toolbox full of other tools.

This tool is perfect This is actually the best version
5/5

One of the best tools I have ever used for removing radio signals. After using it on my Audi, I was thoroughly impressed by the quality, which was far superior to my initial assumptions. After being delivered, it appeared to be of professional quality, so I opened it up and checked it out in my Since I have had professional grade tools that tend to get borrowed or grow legs, these were as good, if not better, than those. This product is worth the purchase.
