Questions & Answers
I'm sorry, but I've never used Harbor Freight's version. This is a brand that I bought and am very happy with.
Despite the fact that I am not a body shop owner, I purchased this item to repair a small dent on my fender. It worked well for the most part. I was able to complete the rest of the project by applying the bond.
If you're wondering if it comes with instructions, the answer is no; there is no paperwork. You'll have a difficult time if you've never done any bodywork or really watched someone who knows what they're doing use this stuff.

Seriously, it's not worth it at any price, so look elsewhere. YOU HAVE BEEN ADVISED. br>.
I didn't want to spend a lot of money because I was new to using a hammer and dolly set. I looked at a variety of websites, including Harbor Freight, Eastwood, eBay, and others, before discovering the ABN set on Amazon. I decided to give it a try because the price was right and it had a lot of positive reviews, so I did. I'm not familiar with hammers and dollies, but I am familiar with tools, and these are well-made. Furthermore, I was blown away by how well these functions. I tried the set on an area on my recently purchased MGB GT that had a crumpled area under some bondo I removed after watching several YouTube videos on how to hammer on dolly, hammer off dolly, and use the pick, among other things. When I say crumpled, I'm referring to a crumpled piece of aluminum foil that had been pulled back open. There are numerous creases and bumps on the surface. It's a jumble of a situation. I only used the hammer and dolly for a few minutes to experiment with some of the techniques I'd learned from YouTube videos, and I was blown away by how quickly the metal began to return to its original shape. I haven't finished the area yet, but the results I got in a matter of minutes were incredible, at least to someone with a pea brain like me! br>br>For $25, you can't go wrong with this tool set.
I returned it because the description stated that it came with a shrinking hammer. I believe the hammer with the square head is it, but it, like the other two hammers, is smooth, causing the metal to stretch rather than shrink. In addition, the dollies appear to be rather small, even for my "medium" sized hands, in comparison to other similar kits I have seen in automotive stores, implying that the kit cannot do everything it claims to be good for or is at the very least defective. As a result, I believe it is deserving of less than three stars.
Yes, I'm sure there are better sets out there with larger dollies, and yes, they're made of more durable steel. I would have bought one of those sets (at a significant discount) if I owned a body shop. br>br>However, for the guy at home who only needs to make a few dents in his budget, this set is perfectly adequate. I already have a hammer that needs to be redressed, but that's fine with me. I'd be furious if the hammer had cost a tool truck price (or even half the tool truck price). But I didn't, and I have some spare workshop time, so I'll spend a few minutes cleaning it up on the grinder before moving on to the next panel. br>br>As I previously stated, it is cost effective. pound pound pound pound pound pound pound pound pound pound pound pound.
Both the hammer and the dollies have flaws (not designed for metalworking, and there's a good chance those marks will transfer to the metal piece you're working on), but what do you expect for the price? But, in the end, I was a little disappointed. The hammer's end shape, with the ball ping, was not even rounded off. It had a sharper picked end (that thing will gouge your metal!). As a result, I had to resurface and polish the hammers and dollies. They've settled into a good routine now. br>br>Just keep in mind that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.
The quality is adequate, as one would expect for china junk or infrequent use. However, it appears that it is overpriced. When did cheap Chinese tools become so expensive? But hey, it does the job for a one-time use, which is exactly what I needed. I had to start with a sledge hammer and crowbar for the big jobs before switching to these for the finishing touches. I had never done anything like this before. Before I got these, I was using a ball peen hammer to get the job done. The hammer with the pointy end and the chisel end were also useful. I wasn't looking for a professional job here, just something that would hide the damage.
This is a high-quality tool set that includes its own attractive plastic storage case. For the casual (and even advanced) user, the basic tool selection is adequate. The hammers have a nice feel to them, and the dollys are individually wrapped for protection, which is ironic considering what they're used for, but it's still a nice touch that shows they care. Bottom- In conclusion, this set represents good value for money and will meet the needs of the majority of people.
