Questions & Answers

Is this part compatible with a 2014 Thor Miramar?

You may be able to use the lock you are looking at, but do not buy it. Breaking the bolt will result in the bolt coming apart. The motorhome has trapped me twice. I have three of them so far.

How can I tell if it fits on my ?

It is not known if Forrester will fit If it looks the same on the outside, it will be the same on the inside. Ours only last two or three The spare I keep in the RV is always handy. In the event that I install a Ordering a new spare was the first thing I did. The plastic part inside the bottles breaks when they are dropped. Although I ensure that the RV is always level for the door to operate correctly, it still may break inside the As of recently, I have not found a good replacement that doesn't have other types of issues. A manufacturing flaw is responsible for this issue. am a member of a few RV groups where everyone confirms this news. As such, we do not have to reinvent anything. My Renegade Classic has just been replaced with it

Is this going to fit a 4 winds hurricane?

Hope that helps! I bought this for my 2000 Hurricane Motorhome and it fits perfectly.

The result of bad design is that it always fails
3/5

The lock I replaced yesterday is the third time I have had to do it. In the picture below, you can see how the part In the event that it breaks, I cannot get back into the RV. Locks usually last for about 2 years before they break. It is claimed that the lock has been redesigned three times, yet it still uses the weak pot metal part shown below that does not last. Using a steel lock would make this lock much better if the pot metal part shown below was replaced with a steel I am guessing they make a lot of money selling these The part may not be available if a new lock is purchased. I can only get this part from Tri Mark, as it fits my Motorhome. Hopefully a company will come up with a good one that uses steel for that part so it is not going to There are hundreds of reports of other people experiencing the same issue. In the event you open and close the door enough, the component will break leaving you no way.

AREA OF UPDATE A SECONDS FAILURE - Failure that could prove deadly
3/5

At first glance, it appears to be a well-built, solid lock. A latch bolt broke less than a year after it was lightly used. A disassembled part from the inside of the vehicle was necessary to exit. There are other reviewers who refer to this broken part in their When we contacted Trimark, we were told they didn't have spare parts available for the This lock cost me more than $100. Trimark will not provide a direct warranty on their product, so I'm waiting for Amazon's response about its replacement. The risk of a failure of this kind is too great, and it could lead to dangerous consequences. BUY THIS PRODUCT UPDATE AT YOUR OWN RISK! I replaced it after 5 months, but it failed. A similar flaw exists in both parts. The product you are offering for sale is faulty and should not be sold.

This is a piece of trash that you shouldn't buy
3/5

It is a junk piece of equipment and has major safety problems. As a new owner, a latch mechanism like the one in our motorhome came equipped with it when we bought it new in May 2017. The motorhome I was in was locked up in November of last year. My tools were in an outside storage compartment and someone outside had been able to obtain them and pass them to me through the window, so I took apart the latch from the inside and discovered that the pot metal striker bolt had broken, making the latch mechanism incapable of operating. A replacement entry / lock mechanism for the motorhome could be found on Amazon at the time, and I purchased it at what I considered a very high price.

21 months later, I found myself trapped inside the RV in August 2020. Fortunately, I was able to extricate myself from the motorhome without assistance after the first locking mechanism had failed. A few days afterwards, I placed on the motorhome's inside the necessary tools to disassemble the lock. Two of the lock striker bolts failed in the picture, and as you can see, the second failure happened in the exact same way as the first failure did. There is a lot of discussion on the internet about this issue with these locks. Search up this issue on the Internet.

My message has been directed directly to the manufacturer, but I have not yet heard back. add insult to injury, the price for the locks at Amazon (and other vendors) is now 50% higher than when I bought them when I replaced my first lock in November. According to myself, each one of these locks has been sold in the past should be recalled and replaced with a lock which is not likely to In the event of an emergency (motorhome on fire or another emergency), a lock likely will fail at the wrong time, resulting in serious injury or death.

Don't order this item unless you're sure you want it
3/5

The company makes a lot of products. Don't order this item unless you're sure you want it. This mechanism is made by Trimark in a number of different versions. Despite being designated as a Trimark model number, downstream distributors add T507 to their product listings. It is possible to replace some versions with others, and there are others that cannot. It is unknown what version of this assembly is being sold by this seller. There are three ears on one deadbolt mechanism, and two of them will make it impossible to fit in some replacement slots cut them off or do not cut into the metal door frame (don't cut into the metal). For more information, you may contact Trimark directly at 800-328-3833 The number 431 You can reach the Customer Care Department at 8616. Please note If you think I am shilling for them, then I am not part of Trimark!.

You might have never replaced one of these before
5/5

Here are some tricks for installing it. I am going to say right away that this is a newer version of the 060-series There was a 0650 lock replaced by it A good job was done by them! With the new lock, you can easily close the door faster, as it is heavier and has a handle inside. I was impressed with the speed of the delivery and the protection provided by the shipping materials. I found one thing odd There should be more than one piece of bubble wrap buried in that shipping box, so be sure to search all the way to the bottom! My mistake almost missed the new mounting screws and the strike plate (which you In the process I learned some things I thought might be useful to someone else in case they help them out. I had never installed one of these before, so I thought I might share some tips I learned during the process. 1 of 3. It is more than likely you will need a Torx socket to remove your old lock, as that was the type of fasteners mine had. In the beginning, I thought it was a Phillips, but closer inspection revealed otherwise. Thankfully, I had my Torx tools on hand, and its installation was a breeze. The second paragraph. In the new lock, there is a sticker that states you cannot remove the striker pins at the locking end, as the pins are fixed in place by law from the factory. There's just one problem the old one won't come out of the hole, and the new one won't go in the hole without removing the old one. It turned out that my "fixed" part was Loctite, so it was really no big deal to get them off. If you already have your lock in place, just ensure that the screws are firmly installed after the lock has been installed. Apart from this issue, the lock used the existing opening without causing any problems. 1.
2.
3. In the event that the original striker plate is not needed, I thought it would be best to keep it. Lined it up and viewed it - it looked the same to me NOT AT ALL! In the new strike, the notches for the locking pins are a bit larger than those in the old strike, which simply wouldn't work with the old strike. It would not normally be an issue for me to use the old strike, but I had chosen to install it UNDER the metal flashing strip as it runs In spite of removing the two screws holding the strike plate to the frame (which also go through the flashing strip), I was unable to remove it. The closed plastic closure next to the door jamb finally had to be removed from inside the motorhome. By popping off the plastic screw cap and removing the screws, this is done. In order to pry away the metal flashing so that I could finally remove the strike plate, I had to pry out enough of the bottom of the strip to release it and pull it I knew exactly what I had to do to install the new one, so I was able to do it easily. In fact, the lock closed and operated perfectly once the replacement strike plate was installed The result is better than I could have hoped. Furthermore, I want to point out the following It is NOT a good idea to drop this thing on your foot when you install Make sure to keep the lock handy at all times as this one is a heavyweight and will turn out to be a bear. Thank you for applying - Good luck! Thank you for using this! I hope it helps someone else.
