The alarm will sound if you do not act quickly. That said, I adore this lock and almost exclusively use the clicker.
After the lock became strange on me, I had to get bolt cutters and cut it off. Locks are great until they aren't, and you find yourself stranded somewhere.
You can lock and unlock the door with the remote control, and you can also set an alarm with it.
WSDCAM customer service will assist you with this if you send them an email.

The buzzer on this thing is quite loud, but if you hold it in your palm, it will almost completely silence it. It's very simple to activate it. It could go off if, for example, someone bumps your bike while it is parked next to you in a bike rack. Apart from the alarm, it's a decent form of security in low- to moderate-risk areas. Any cable can be cut with a pair of bolt cutters. If given enough time, an experienced thief appears to be capable of defeating all but the most expensive locks and chains; as long as you can stay close enough to hear this lock when it is activated, you should be fine.
The vibration sensor was way too sensitive when I got it, and I'm not about to leave my bike knowing that it'll become a public nuisance (due to the loud alarm) if someone accidentally bumps into it. I tried to lower the vibration sensitivity by holding down the 4 key for a long time, but all it did was beep rapidly and loudly, with no indication that the vibration sensitivity had changed. As a result, I gave it back to them. br>br>3/14/2020 UPDATE: br>I received the replacement unit one day after returning the defective unit. The settings for changing the vibration sensitivity function as described in the instructions are not defective, and the replacement is not defective. Despite this, I now prefer this bike lock/alarm for use in low-light situations. I recommend doing some thorough testing in your home to learn some of the beep codes and what to expect. Here are some of the things I discovered:
1. All three sensitivity levels of the vibration alarm are extremely sensitive. I accidentally set it off by deliberately heavy walking next to the bike, albeit on a wooden floor rather than the dirt or paving where it would normally be parked outside. There is one plus: If the vibration has stopped, the VERY LOUD alarm will stop after a few seconds. For an unwary passerby, this is still a potentially dangerous situation.
2. Practice using the 4-digit code to unlock the alarm. It will sound the alarm even if you enter the correct password, but only for a short time if your password is correct. So don't be alarmed; Simply type the rest of the password quickly and press the middle button.
3. It is possible to turn off the vibration alarm. Consider doing so in high-traffic areas with a low risk of harm.
4. This alarm is ideal for installing quickly in low-light situations. Public spaces are at risk. For remote, night, or other high-risk situations, invest in a more durable lock. I believe that a well-equipped and determined thief who isn't deterred by public humiliation could break this lock in no time.
That's a LOT of noise. The cable is a little short, but that's not a big deal. It's so loud that there's no need for it to be connected to anything. It's enough to have a motion detector. I find that punching in the code on the cable itself is far more difficult than using the remote. If you type it incorrectly, the alarm will sound. Ouch. However, if you need to share the code with someone, this is a good option. I'm glad I have it for my electric scooter because it's simple to use and secure. UPDATE: This method has ceased to function. I can't find the manual, and there isn't one online; I've removed and replaced the batteries, and the remote and unit both beep, but the lock won't open. It was a good lock for a while, but it is no longer functional.
The alarm lock is excellent, and the remote was simple to operate, but it is not waterproof, and I live in Seattle. I was locked out the first time it rained hard. There was no alarm, no nothing, and even after installing new batteries, the chain would not unlock.
It would be far too costly to simply stop working. There isn't a problem with the battery - It is not possible to activate the alarm.
The lock isn't unlocking anymore. It makes no difference if the batteries are changed. I suppose I'll have to remove this blight from my bicycle.
Because I don't have the option to ask for help, I assume I'm past my return/warranty period, but this thing still doesn't work after about 4-hours. It's been 5 months since I've used it in a non-professional capacity It simply beeps at random intervals and does not engage the lock. It's a pity there aren't any more locks like this one to choose from - If there was, I'd go somewhere else.
I was able to get the alarm to turn off and it to exit the lick mode, but I was very disappointed.
