Be careful to not be confused by some of the reviews which suggest this is for adding 30 amps to an RV model with 50 amp service. An RV with a 30 amp service requires a VERY heavy duty connection to be made to a 50 amp service. You can borrow a 30 amp shore power cord from a private RV park that only has 50 amp service if you have an RV that's equipped with such a cord like my 30 amp. Without one of these beautiful objects, you must own one.
My favorite thing about this RV adapter plug is the ease of use! After this is connected with the camper, I can plug it into an outlet on the house via an extension cord and then into the camper. I'd much rather drag the 50 amp cord around, than use a long extension cord. Before I go out, it provides enough power for me to put the slides in and out, operate the lights, work the tongue or jacks, and cool the fridge. There is a very high quality to it. It has already been used a few times and is working fine. My search has ended. It's just what I wanted.
Since I have been watching the movie teardrops for months now, I've kept the device plugged in. I found the adapter to be very strong, and it fits well.
The adapter is of good quality. I had no problems with this. A 50 amp 5th wheel was available at the park where we wanted to set up our rig, but only 30 amp was available at the park where it was to be parked The temperature was cold so we decided not to use the air conditioning, so we turned off the a/c units at the breaker panel to avoid overcharging. If required, it could also be used with a small 30 amp generator.
My motorhome batteries needed to be charged, and my fridge needed to function occasionally between trips. It was necessary to convert from 30 amp to 15/20 amps. My surprise at finding this was great, and despite how little I expected to find it, My AC won't blow a fuse if it starts running my outlets were wired to handle 20 amps, so I don't have to panic if I forget to turn it off if I should forget to turn it off, it will work until I For a 30 amp coach, it would not be recommended for a full time service hookup, but for the purpose of giving your battery some added protection, and for electronic devices that don't require constant power, this is a nice.
When I bought my first trailer a few months ago, I purchased this adapter as well. I watched a few YouTube videos on RV living for It has already paid for itself today. Our family of four is camping in a secluded campground in Texas. Our 30 amp site was right next to the crowded part of the campground, but we didn't like it. When I asked the owner if we could move to an empty site with a lot more privacy after a few days, the owner agreed. I remembered that I had bought this adapter and that it was in my storage area I said yes to him, but there was a problem. It was a 50 amp site. The adaptor works perfectly and helped us to save our trip with the privacy we now have after using it and moving to the new space. We have slept like babies since we have this adapter and moved to the new space.
It would be a good idea to purchase one if you plan to travel with an electric vehicle where superchargers and other high speed chargers are scarce (e. g. Areas in Canada, the upper peninsula of Michigan, Glacier National Park and the Canadian Maritimes.
