Finally, an RV water hose that won't fight you when it's time to put it away. When it comes to coiling this hose for storage, it's a breeze. I've had a lot of RV hose experience, having owned a white Camco (very stiff, especially in cold weather), a blue "Neverkinks" (which ALWAYS kinks), and a Zero g (that burst). This hose has quickly become one of my favorites.
As a full-time employee, I am responsible for I've bought a lot of drinking water hoses over the years as a full-time RVer. After discovering that the cheap ones from Wally only last about 6 months before leaking where the male fittings are joined, I decided to make my own. Yes, I use a pressure regulator, and I do my best to use new washers whenever possible. They only last that long before developing the same flaw, and coiling those hoses when the temperature drops below 40 degrees is a pain. So I decided to try this Camco hose, which is made in the USA and has stainless steel fittings while remaining soft and pliable. That sounds fantastic. Although it was pliable, the stainless steel male fitting blew right off the rubber hose in the middle of the night after only a week. What a disaster. Clearly, there is a design flaw. Can't anyone make a good hose? I'm sending it back and trying another brand.
5 months later, here is an update: br>br>The hose is in good shape. This hose did not develop algae, unlike a white camco hose that did. I believe that the blue hose's lack of transparency aids in algae control. br>br>I also customized this 50-foot hose to meet my requirements. It was preferable to purchasing 10- and 25-foot hose sections. There are no complaints because there are no leaks. There are no cracks or splits, and the material is still flexible. Static pressure is less than 60 psi in the hose. For over a month, I had the water pressure set to 80 psi (static) with no leaks. I lowered the pressure to 60 pounds per square inch. br>br>Because I didn't drink from the hose, I have no idea how to rate "flavor. " In any case, I use this hose in conjunction with a 3-inch hose. For my travel trailer, I've installed a stage water filtration system as well as a water softener. And I don't drink the water at the campground, so I can't comment on that. I only have three 5-minute meetings scheduled. I have a couple of gallon Primo Water jugs that I refill at the local grocery store. br>br>Now let's get back to the hose. It has a lot of versatility. It doesn't kink as long as you're not too rough with it (I mean really rough). I've had this hose under 60psi for several days and it's held up just fine; the hose does expand/stretch slightly under pressure, which worried me at first, but I'm confident that it'll hold up just fine; I haven't used it in hot weather conditions, so I'm not sure how the hose will be affected by pressure hot temperatures. I guess we'll have to wait and see. br>br>Because it's the most flexible hose I have, it's been a breeze to move it around and route it how I want, so far.
I've tried every type of RV "drinking water safe" hose available, and this one is by far the best. The white Camco is great, but it's too stiff to coil properly if it's below 100 degrees outside; this blue host coils well at 35 degrees, but I haven't tested it at lower temperatures. It's a lot more flexible than the ubiquitous Camco "no kink" white hose. It does, in fact, live up to the hype. The machined fittings appear to be nickel-plated, and they appear to be of excellent quality with no leaks. According to the packaging and text on the hose, it is manufactured in the United States. It says "drinking water safe," and for some reason, when the hose is made in the United States, I give that statement more weight. I don't have any long-term thoughts on how it will hold up in the sun or anything like that; I'm just a weekend warrior who is tired of coiling up a stiff hose every time he fills tanks. Even if it only lasts a year and I have to replace it every other year, it is still worthwhile, and I am not a wealthy man.
This hose appears to be kink-free and long-lasting. Unfortunately, it has a circular pattern built in, which means it can only be wound in one direction. The hose has a memory and will not let you turn it clockwise or counterclockwise. Because it comes off the reel in a series of loops, you'll have to spin it flat. It works well and has nice metal fittings, but it is difficult to reel in.
I'm taken aback by the quality. It fulfills the requirements outlined in the product description.
1. Flexible in its approach.
2. It is less likely to kink, at least not as much as stiffer ones, due to its flexibility.
3. Metal fittings are an added bonus. So far, there have been no leaks in the form of plastic. The only advantage of the stiff ones is that they have a thick coating that helps them resist UV damage and will likely last a little longer. However, I would prefer to own something better for a shorter period of time rather than something I dislike for a longer period of time. br>br>In summary, I am very pleased with my purchase thus far.
HOWEVER. This is a very flexible hose, and one of the things I like best about it is that after filling our boat's water tank, it can be coiled into a small bundle. I'll be looking for something to roll it up on so I can extend and retract it without untangling or unkinking it. Despite the fact that I will not use this hose in the winter, I believe it will remain pliable at extremely low temperatures. Overall, it appears that this hose is of good quality. Fittings of a good quality.
In comparison to traditional hoses, this one feels incredibly soft. It has a lot of strength, but it also has a lot of give, so it doesn't kink up. It's the ideal length for us to connect our camper to a water filtration system. Just the right amount of hose length to avoid putting pressure on the ends while also avoiding creating too much slack. Tight, secure connections are made with high-quality metal fittings on both ends. No leaks. After each use, simply coil it back up and store it in our water bin for easy transport. I would strongly suggest it.
