It is the same pump. I ordered this part and the back flow preventer, and they were both installed. It was an easy task.
According to my understanding, this is the part. It solved a backflow issue, in which the pump would cycle often to maintain pressure, but water was flowing through this valve assembly back to the water pump. I have the 4048 pump, which is nearly identical, and this part solved the problem.
The Shurflo I have is a good product. The company has been in service since many years ago. I had a broken water line and mine ran until I emptied a 150 gallon tank, then it ran dry for days before the marina discovered it. I just replaced the diaphragm, so it still works. While Shurflo works fine for me, I believe Flojet or Seaflo have a 12v model. Though I have no experience with those models, I have heard they make a 12v model.

The pump comes with this as a replacement for an older one. I discovered that I had placed a water valve in the incorrect position when I went to install in my cramped wet bay.
