Questions & Answers

Is it possible that this is gas-powered?

Only propane/gas is used in this model. Look for the model you're looking for on the internet. I had simply removed the electric service from mine, which is a manual light.

Is this the same size as the Suburban Finished Goods Suburban Rv Water Heater LP Pilot SW6P? If that's not what it says in the details, then what is it? 12 11/16 by 12 /11/16 by 19 3/16 ?

The SW6p and the Suburban 5054A are the same model. Yes, they would be the same size.

Is this a propane-powered hot water heater that will work with the 6WP?

It can only be used with propane. There isn't an igniter because it is piloted. I'm not sure if they're compatible; you'd have to measure both inlets and outlets for water to see if they're compatible. propane. I received some suggestions. An rv repairman can assist you with the installation.

These are referred to as "seconds" in some reviews. Is this correct, and if so, what makes it so?

'Seconds' indicates that there is a flaw or flaw in some way that does not affect the function. It meant that the outside frame on mine wasn't perfectly square, but this didn't affect installation or function. I only had to shim under one side; minor flaws like this keep them from charging full price, and you get a good product.

It was possible that the unit had been refurbished
3/5

I noticed some rust on the metal parts of the unit. I didn't give it much thought at the time, but when the unit was finally installed, after much rigging and rearranging of plumbing, "IT LEAKED. " I had a plumber come and check all the connections because I wasn't sure where the leak was coming from, and he even used his magic tape to secure the lines, but the small leak persisted. So, now that the plumbing is in place for this model, I'll have to take a chance on reordering it. Best of luck to me!.

KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) is an acronym that stands for Keep It Simple Stu Two years ago, I set up the Suburban with DSI
5/5

The circuit board pooped out after a year and a half of use. Although it was simple to repair, the board cost around $100. Then, after replacing that board last year, it decided not to spark again, so I bought the highly rated Dinosaur board, which plugged right in but apparently didn't solve the problem. I tried cleaning the pipes and putting the electrical system through its paces. "Forget it," he said, "I'm going to buy the one that you have to manually light. " " This simple model has a lot more positive reviews, there are fewer things that can go wrong with it, and it bolts right in, making installation a breeze. ".

Count on us to be dependable, efficient, and straightforward
5/5

The water heater found in most RVs is the Suburban, which is functionally simple, requires no electricity (a standby pilot keeps the water warm), is easy to install, reliable, and efficient thanks to its octagonal tank and tightly-fitting hoses. Foam insulation that has been wrapped. br>br>I put this unit in an off-the-grid location outside. The tank remains at temperature all night long without the burner firing up in this off-grid solar house for summer use, housed inside a wooden box stuffed with additional mineral wool insulation.

You get what you pay for, and a damaged product is a good way to save money
4/5

I just received this today, 12/2014, and like the others have stated, the units are obviously damaged stock, which is why they are much cheaper than other places online. I chose this unit because there is less to fail, as there is no electric crap, which seems to go bad in the B stock units based on other reviews. I reasoned that there would be less to go wrong with this one. Regardless, the lower left corner is clearly damaged, as it is bent up a little and there are greasy fingerprints all over the device. The box was also opened, indicating that it had been thoroughly examined after being damaged in some way. Whatever the case may be, the bent part serves no real purpose and isn't a problem with the unit's operation. Simply return the bend. br>br>It's also worth noting that if you don't already have one, you'll need to buy one. The hot water heater will not fit into your RV unless you have a mounting flange, which is included with any A or C style door kit. br>br>As an FYI on the various types of heaters, this one is manual light, the next price up is electric light, the next price up is electric light with electric elements SW6P is this one, 6D is direct spark, 6PE is manual ignition with electric element 6DE is the fancy one but as mentioned in other reviews there are problems I guess with this obvious "damaged stock" you get what you pay for so just don't be surprised that it's $200 less than camping world the Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes If you're replacing an old heater, like I did in my 1977 camper, the gas line is in the back, but with these new ones, it's in the front - Keep in mind that you'll need to purchase an extension rod to do so. You might be able to recycle the parts from an old heater if you want to canablise it.

That's exactly what I was looking for: a clean and simple design
5/5

This is an excellent water heater for a small space. I made a mistake ordering it because my original Bowen water heater had a much larger diameter, so I had to frame out the hole before installing the heater in my camper, then trim over it. But I'm to blame because I didn't double-check the dimensions. br>br>Despite my own misfortune, I ordered this unit primarily because it, like my older model, has a piloted ignition, which means I don't have to worry about additional wiring, as well as the simplicity of not having a burner control module, only a gas valve and a thermal couple. br>br>In the back, the water lines were not properly aligned, but this was a simple fix. I trimmed the old lines a little, used a 1/2" pex/SharkBite to 1/2" NPT threaded nipple fitting, and then connected the tank with 12" long 1/2" flexible sink hoses. It was a cinch to use.

DROP- AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE CASITA WATER HEATER
4/5

It was delivered quickly and at a fair price. The thermocouple connection was a little shaky, and the light wouldn't turn on. The thermocouple connection was adjusted (as per the maintenance manual, which is available online) and it now works perfectly. Suggestion: If you're swapping out a 20-year-old refrigerator, year- Replace all couplings and fittings, too, if you have an old heater like I did. My connectors were brittle and cracked, and I had to return to Lowe's three times for replacements after the old ones leaked. The heater, on the other hand, appears to be in excellent condition. with the exception of the thermocouple problem, which I was able to resolve.

Until the pilot light goes out, it works perfectly
3/5

This water heater performs admirably until the pilot light goes out, which occurs at least once per day. My propane system is fine, but the pilot light will not stay lit for more than a few days at most, which is extremely inconvenient when you wake up in the morning and want to take a hot shower only to have to relight the water heater and wait 10 minutes. br>br>I'd recommend switching to a different brand or purchasing a unit with both electric and gas.

However, it is very simple to set up
5/5

The item was delivered in good condition. The camper required a minor gas line modification, but it was otherwise very simple to install. This model appears to be a scratch and dent model, according to what I've heard. It had a slight bend in the bottom when I got it, but it wasn't a big deal because it bent back easily. I lit the pilot after installation, and it started right up and has been heating water without issue for the past two weeks. My camper was built in 1990 and is known as an American Star.
