Questions & Answers

I'd like to use the coleman style green propane canisters for this. What is the best low-pressure hose for this job?

I have no idea, I'm sorry, I hooked up to my camper's gas line.

What is the cutout size for this?

Dimensions are 3/4" smaller than stated.

Is it possible for a novice to hook up without putting themselves in grave danger? I'd rather not go BOOM?

That's what I think. After you've finished installing your LP connections, check for leaks with a soapy water solution in a spray bottle. Check to be safe. It won't be a problem for you.

How high above the counter top does it go, and how low does it go below the counter top?

It will be about 1" above the counter top and 2-inches long. 3/4" below the surface.

It just adds to the fun of living in a van! This tiny cooktop is one of my favorites
5/5

I upgraded from a camp stove, which served me well but required a lot of effort to set up each time I needed to cook or boil water. br>This two-burner stovetop performs better than I had anticipated. Despite the fact that I had to build a small cabinet for it and devote valuable space to it, it's been one of the best things I've done to improve vanlife. My favorite feature of the stove is that I can turn the knob all the way to the left to get the lowest flame. There's no need to relight the burner if you turn the knob too far. br>I didn't put the cover on because it makes things too crowded while I'm cooking, but it's still cool that it came with it. br>Anyway, the thing doesn't rattle while driving, which was a pleasant surprise, and the burner grates are simple to remove for cleaning. br>Thanks to this tiny cooktop, I'm cooking more and eating better.

GET A PROPANE REGULATOR WITH A LOW PRESSURE! There isn't one included in the package - Once you've figured out that tidbit, everything should work fine
4/5

TO INSTALL THIS OFF OF ANY SIZE PROPANE BOTTLE, YOU WILL NEED A LOW PRESSURE REGULATOR! It's fantastic once you've figured it out. When laying out your cuts, use extreme caution. The top's round corners will not, contrary to popular belief, conceal a hard, square cut. particularly in the unit's front. The large burner is in the shape of an oval - The pictures do not show this well. I have it set up with 1 pound cylinders and a shut-off valve. valve is shut down To light it, you'll need matches. There isn't a pilot or a clicker.

For the money, this is a fantastic stove
5/5

In my vintage 1983 fiberglass camper, I installed the Flame King to replace the old stove. BE CAREFUL ON THE CUTOUT, as another reviewer pointed out. I couldn't change the hole because it was already cut from my old stove, but if you're cutting from scratch, keep in mind that the corners on this stove are rounded, so any amount of overcutting will result in a gap at the corners! I'd recommend undercutting the drop-in dimension by about 1/2 inch and ROUNDING the cutout corners (rather than cutting a true rectangle) so that it fits in flush with no gaps at the corners. Yes, you must light it with a flame, but at this price, I'd rather use a flint stone! The flames are easy to control and have a nice range of brightness from low to high. My old stove didn't have a top like this one, so this is a HUGE improvement because I can use the closed top to use my mini toaster oven. Because the camper is only 10 feet long, there is a limited amount of counter space - Simply for that reason, this stove was a fantastic upgrade! I also like that the grates can be removed, but you have to work hard to get them out so they don't pop off and fly around while you're traveling. This stove comes highly recommended from me!.

The other more expensive options are rendered irrelevant due to price/quality
5/5

I've seen similar complaints in various reviews for this and other similar products. So take reviews with a grain of salt, but in general, this is a very low-cost, relatively high-quality (very high quality compared to price) product. With an Amazon gift card, I spent $57, which is about half the price of a competing cover, even without the oven. br>Because of the low price, I did some research before purchasing this. The stove was subject to a recall by an RV manufacturer (a link to the recall can be found online). This is a regulator cover that can be found at the propane stove's entrance. It was replaced with a metal cover, which solved the problem. The stove also has dual ignitors (no batteries or power required), which was a pleasant surprise for me. br>The stove is relatively light, but it is quite sturdy once installed. Because of the thin metal, some distortion may occur, and you may need to bend the top and sides to fit, but this is not a problem. br>br>All of the components, including the gas valves with integrated ignitors, appear to be of good quality. I planned on using an old Harbor fright propane stove from India. This is a much higher-quality Chinese product. br>br>If you're in the market, I'd recommend getting one of these before they go up in price.

After a month of use, the quality begins to deteriorate
3/5

This was installed in a camper van and is used on a regular basis. After four months of use, I'm confident in giving it a positive review. br>br>If you have the funds, do not purchase this. Why? Because after a few weeks, the quality degrades. When you use both stove tops, the heat spreads out a little. The stove heats up and expands the metal as a result of this. As a result, the knobs on the gas controls do not fit. The knobs then expand as well and will no longer fit; I've had to customize the knobs to make them work, which is a pain. In addition, the label on which the controls are located began to bubble. The stovetop is also rattling wildly.

The cover/wind screen is a stand-alone item that attaches to the countertop rather than the stove
4/5

My travel trailer has a drawer that pulls out of the side to hold an outdoor grill or camp stove. I purchased this stove as a replacement for my old stove, which had broken. I wanted to make it clear that the cover/wind screen is a separate item that attaches to a countertop. It has nothing to do with the stove. As a result, the stove can only be used with the windscreen if it is mounted on a countertop. As a result, it cannot be used on its own. Furthermore, because the side shields are not attached to the wind screen, a strong wind could cause the cover to blow back and bend. I solved this problem by adding snaps to the shields to keep them in place while open. To accommodate the width of the male snaps, I had to bend the cover slightly outward. br>br>I used a quick-connect fitting to connect this stove to the gas system in my trailer. Disconnect the hose and the fitting. My trailer, like most modern RVs, has a single regulator at the bottles that reduces the gas system's pressure to around 0. 5psi. The stove had a regulator that was set to 0 when it arrived. The regulator was only severed to restrict the flow because the pressure was only 5 psi. The stove burners functioned perfectly after I removed the stove regulator. br>br>Overall, the stove is a good value, but keep in mind that installing it and getting it set up the way you want it will be a DIY project.
