Having replaced the screen door latch a few times on my Montana 5th wheel, I decided to replace it with this gadget. Could have done it earlier if I had thought of it sooner. Replacement for 285 r/h latch is a perfect fit. The kit comes with all mounting hardware, though I chose not to use it as it was a perfect match for mine. The previous holes matched up perfectly, the only thing I had to do was ensure the hardware was centered on When you install it, be sure the latch you use to hold the handle when you attach the door to the main door is adjusted properly. I didn't and found that when I shut the main door the screen door latch still caught and I had difficulty opening the door properly. I had to use a coat hanger to remove the latch from The main door is closed, so it can be hard to open it. In addition to the latch being all metal, the hardware that comes with it is made of Unlike the plastic latches in the past, this latch is not going to fail like the one in the past. Hardware is the catch it connects to and the catch attached to the main door to secure the latch. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it has a high cost. If it never fails, I will give it.
It worked, but it wasn't exactly aligned, so use the original screws if you have them. I also had to replace the original door holder bracket with a new one that was larger, and put some washers underneath for it to line up with the outside door handle. As long as the original bracket is still functioning, the door will remain open. Despite the original holes being used, I used all of them. The original plastic one was made from plastic. This one is made of metal. Cherokee Camper Only 4 stars because the fit was not perfect, but it worked out after adjustments (Cherokee camper).
This has been the second one I have purchased after returning one of the plastic ones from Amazon, which was too big. Although it took a little bit of tweaking to make this work with our 1993 Bounder, it seems to perform well and to be It is important to note that there are no instructions, and that you need to position the door catch so that it holds the arm not in a snug manner Ensure that the door frame latch is at its catch position when the door is closed, otherwise you will not be able to open the door after it is closed. To use my screen door, I had to remove a little of the screen door cross piece where the handle interfered, and I also had to clear the frame catch with a portion of the latch. I ended up filing and fitting the part for about 2 hours before it worked, but it worked fine after that.
Additionally, the latch is easy to grab on the door frame latch plate as well. You will receive a quality upgrade if you have a camper or RV that use plastic latches. I like it!.
These include the catches that mount on the doorframe and on the exterior door.
And the mounting holes were almost an eighth of an inch farther apart than I expected, but I was able to work around them. Since the handle on the factory door was not the same shape as the handle on the exterior door, we had to mount the catch on the exterior door in a different place in order to allow both doors to work together.
Thanks to the metal handle, I feel so much better. A significant portion is made of plastic, but it is overall quite heavy and difficult to break. Drilled others and repaired the old ones since the old ones did not quite fit. This was a satisfactory result for me.
There will be no more plastic crap from.
This is the ticket! Plastic factory is a piece of garbage. The installation takes only two minutes.
