I was looking for the low VOC (volatile organic compounds) rating since I am an environmental chemist. It's not the first time I've had to return memory foam pillows since I bought several and found the smell to be too strong Those compounds would not go down well with me, and I know a little bit about some of them. There is no comparison between the price of these items and the price of a box spring and spring mattress for a guest room. I have slept on this mattress several nights and also had someone with back issues sleep on it a few nights and they said it is a great mattress. I have not worn it for quite a while but it did make the odor disappear after airing it out for a few days. My old $2000 Tempurpedic is comparable to this one for 1/10 the price. Maybe I won't withstand it like that one, but I'll do just fine. Heck you can replace it every few years and STILL make money.

". So, can you tell me which one it is? A very confusing situation! The reviews about it said that it was nice and soft, so I decided to take a chance. I can assure you that it is NOT soft! The item is not a plush, regardless of how it is classified. The only way I could make it usable is by adding a 3" topper on top. While I could have sent it back, I felt like I could live with it since it had the topper. The mattress that is softer is preferred by my wife as well. Our old Select Comfort bed, which was 18 years old, was replaced with this bed, and I honestly think it is more comfortable than that bed was all those years ago.
