Questions & Answers

Black water will seep through a valve if the valve is not properly sealed. This happens when I remove the black water cap and drain the water. I hate it! ?

It was necessary for me to cut the pipe to the length I wanted, then to mount this valve on to the newly cut pipe. I would rather trust pvc than This will not hold up to long term wear and tear and will surely come loose over time. This will not cause a leak, but it will cause a big mess when the replacement valve comes loose and hits the pavement. As this pvc glue sets up in 45 seconds, you'll need to be ready to use it when you place it on. It was put on in the wrong place by about a 1/4 position. Make sure that it is placed correctly after it has been put in place. After about 30 seconds, the glue will set up so much that you won't be able to take it off just that quickly. Hold onto it for another 30 seconds and you'll have a professional treatment. Thru this bathroom upgrade, you can set on your toilet and enjoy a safe and secure The pun was just meant to be. As you smile, I know you are happy.

In what direction should the mounting bolts be spaced? What is 1/8"?

3 3/4 inches is closer to the true size. Technical data sheets for Valterra Gate Valves specify that a 3" body, which has an overall width of 4 inches, contains one valve. I am 37 inches tall.

Due to a malfunctioning valve, I can't empty it from the valve outside. I had to use a shop vac to get it down the toilet. What is the right way to do this?

In order to replace the valve you need to drain and remove the sewage first. By cutting a hole at the base of the square where it meets the pipe, a hole can be made. You can then pry out the broken gate with pliers or a flat head screwdriver. As soon as you begin draining, ensure you attach your hose and open all valves to prevent it from backing It's hard to do without a little drip, which you can catch with a basket or The results will be far superior to using a shop vacuum.

Since my valve is about 2 feet from the handle, how long must the rod be to use on my new valve? Can I use the old rod?

The thread size and pitch of the bolt must be the same. Can it To start with, I would try to locate a valve with a stem that is the right size for your application.

Ensure that you clean everything extremely well so that you don't have a mess when changing the plugs
4/5

I replaced a plastic handle waste valve with a metal one. The quality is much better. It seems to last, though it's a little annoying to get the seals positioned correctly without them falling out of place when you insert the valve. You will wonder if it is in the proper locations when it is put in. As you install this unit between two pipes, it can be a tight fit, so make sure everything is tight and the seal is in place. Be sure to clean your black tank for much longer than you have before before you remove the old valve. The inside of your RV tank must be pressure washed using one of those water jet hoses that spin really fast. There is no need to hog an RV park waste station for this and use a hose that spins really fast to wash the inside. It took about an hour for me to flush out my tank with many full fills to remove every last piece of turd, and I am so glad I did it as it prevented any surprises from leaking.

It looks like a quality product that can be relied upon to last

This replacement valve was purchased to replace one that dragged on the pavement after its I disassembled the old valve and drain flange as soon as I realized a way to drain the tank without a huge mess. Fittings such as this come with washers that you will need to assemble them. As part of the installation, I removed the old one and cleaned the flange it needed to mount to. The pipe flange was installed, washers were placed on it, bayonet flange was installed, bolts and nuts were installed, and the job In addition, I built a support that should prevent it from occurring again in the future. I am pleased with the smooth operation of the valve. Its metal handle appealed to me and was probably the biggest factor that made me pick this over some other brands.

We were able to stop the leak by replacing the component directly

I replaced the Valterra Bladex valve in my old Carriage 5th wheel RV with this Valterra bladex valve. Neither the 3" nor the 1 1/2" need to be replaced. It is much easier / smoother now that the valves are operating and it has also stopped the leak. As soon as the valves are closed, there is no water coming out of the outlet pipe That's exactly how it ought to Please keep reading. As for the bolts that came with the 3" valve, I replaced them with stainless steel ones. This isn't a complaint at all I just had to remove the old one because it was very rusted and difficult to remove, and my waste valves are in an awkward spot underneath. Please keep reading. My use of extensions was dictated by how the valve was located. You are also welcome if you are in the same boat. Then I applied pliers and vice grips with a ) to hold the shaft, unscrew the handle, then screw Please keep reading. The product hasn't been out for more than a month, so I can't speak for its longevity, but I hope it will last for years to come. As for the new ones, they look similar to the old ones I removed, which were probably in use for quite some time.

The pipe that connected my grey water and black water tanks through a smaller valve near the tank, and a larger valve at the cap was broken off of my travel trailer
3/5

The part I had wasn't broken, but I couldn't find the square bracket that would replace the broken one It turns out the cap part had a square ring on it, and it was clamped to this piece but I couldn't separate them, so I had to reglue the broken section. Having swapped it anyway, I realized that it was moving very smoothly. I feel like the smoothness is too much. There was a loose feel to it. My old one was smaller than this one, so I matched it up with the new one and saw that the gap along the sides of the piece that pushes in is larger. As far as clearance goes, my old one had such a close clearance that I never even noticed it. Although I chalked it up to an improvement over the original plastic handled one, I put it on anyhow. My valve has a parallel position to the ground, and when it is not under pressure due to material inside the pipes pushing against it, it will eventually wiggle outwards, allowing the valve to be opened. The only difference I can tell between this and the old one besides the gap problem is the hand grip piece itself is metal instead of plastic. Nothing other than metal vs. plastic makes it any more special, no improved gaskets, no special It's better to get one made of plastic. If you want the luxurious feel of cold steel between your fingers as you twist the valve for a few seconds, go ahead and buy this one. As I live in a hot, dry climate, the plastic held up fine and would argue that it would be a better choice since it would retain fewer heat rays. One last thing to do is to offer one that has a rubberized grip. I'm going to have to buy those stupid proprietary square plates separately.

Replacing the old one with a decent one
4/5

There's nothing better than a standardized waste valve in the RV industry. The thought occurred to me. My 1988 Falcon 190 was able to use both waste water outlets with this. The installation should be simple and the service should be It seems the handles that go on pots are made of metal (or whatever it is). There is only one thing I dislike about the setup so far, and that is the ABS guillotine, which is formed into a sharp blade for sliding If your tool is so sharp that it can cut a fool, you should not use it. The acronym ABS stands for Audience-Based System. One of the thin, sharp edges of both units was folded in a few places. If they were to use plastic, would it kill their bottom line to have a slightly rounded edge on the blade?.

Replacement for stress for 10 minutes It is possible to live a free life
5/5

These days there are no restrictions on the dog peeing and pooping in the yard - it's kind of interesting. The smell of a black tank leak can be awful, even if it's just a small level. implying that it leaks all the time, but even a few ounces when taking the cap off can create a mess. As a result, this would be ideal to have it take 10 minutes to replace, in an easy to reach location. Here is what you will need to do after installing As if it were butter, the slide will slid in and out. In addition, the slide doesn't match up exactly, and while it looks like it would leak, there are gaps on either side and the slide isn't that tightly fitted, so not a drop of water gets past. It would be a great idea to replace yours today.

Our original black valve on our trailer was leaking from its stem, so it needed to be repaired. Who wants poop water dripping down their hallway? Because it's impossible to tell if you just order the seals or the entire valve if you order just the seals - They seem to fit, but how will they work? I recommend just ordering one valve and getting it done. In general, I'm satisfied with the valve and would buy it again in the future. I find that it opens and closes much more smoothly than it did when it was brand.
