CURT 48012 Pintle Hitch with 2-5/16-Inch Trailer Ball, Fits 2-1/2-Inch Receiver, 20,000 lbs, 15-Inch Length, Black

So I upgraded to this Pintle hitch in order to tow a small roll-off trailer and some cans. I had the lighter version, which had a capacity of 15,000 Pintle and 13,000 Pintle. The capacity of this item is 20,000. This should work fine because the new roll-off system has a 16,000 gvwr rating. It's heavy duty, powder coated, and has two wheels. Because I'll be towing with both a ball and a Pintle, 1/2 receiver size makes more sense than carrying and swapping the two styles. It's critical to keep it lubed. My old one rusted due to lack of use over the winter. If you live in a salt-treated area, pull it off for the winter and spray it with WD40 or better. Curtis and Amazon, thank you so much!.

Unlike other pins, mine has a square hole that is parallel to the shank and no binding in the pin. The fit is a little sloppy, but that could be due to slop in my receiver. I intend to keep it in the receiver, but if I can't secure it somehow, it will bounce around and wallow out the square receiver hole. It appears to be a formidable opponent.

My FORD oem receiver isn't compatible with this. This casting's hole is a fraction of an inch out of square. The hitch pin will only go halfway through as a result of this. This is the second one with the same problems; however, customer service was excellent and promptly replaced it. I have a bunch of other ball mounts that fit perfectly, so it's probably just a casting tolerance issue. For Ford, it doesn't work, but I can't speak for other manufacturers.

There's no way to go wrong with prime shipping. This is a large and heavy object. Built solidly, with a smooth action and a thick paint coat. The ball had to be removed with a special wrench, and the bugga is still firmly attached. I strongly suggest it.

However, this is a fantastic product. I bought it in 2018 for a Ram 2500 and again in 2021 for a Ram 3500, and both times I had to weld and grind beads on the hitch because the hole had WAY too much slop. I always try to get things as tight as possible when pulling heavy trailers to avoid any additional potential shear or wear issues, and I like the heavy rating.

Solid piece, not cheap, but an excellent upgrade for a newer, larger truck hitch. After ten years, the last one was still working and looking good, so expect the same from this one.

Curt manufactures high-quality products. It arrived on time. There isn't much more to say. With a 2, it's a combination ball and pintle hitch. 5 out of 5 stars for receiver. If you need a receiver hitch, make sure to get the more common 2" receiver hitch.
