It is far too small. The dimensions must be the same.

What is the diameter of the shaft?

The shank is 5/8-inch wide. 1 inch diameter by 1 inch height 3/4- Longer than an inch

How small can a ball's shaft be?

On my lawn tractor, 5/8 was the smallest size that worked.

Is it possible to tow a 10x5 trailer with it?

Yes, as long as the trailer hitch is two inches in diameter. While the majority of them are designed for 2" balls, there are a few that require a 1 7/8" ball.

Without the need for a separate hitch, it fits a wide range of lawn tractors and zero turn mowers. For most lawn mower style hitch plates, a couple of washers will be needed as spacers to keep the nut from threading onto the unthreaded shank portion. It has two flats on the lower part of the ball that you can use to tighten it.

Check your size; it's a good deal, but don't make the same mistake I did; The shaft is 5/8" in diameter

This is not a trailer for use on the road. This is the correct size for your GARDEN TRACTOR. You'll need a 3/4" or 1" shaft for your road-going towing needs. Depending on the hitch you're using. Once you've taken your measurements, it's time to place your order.

Troy looked great in it. MTD lawn tractor (built by me). If your trailer has a fix jack, keep in mind that the jack's foot may even touch the ground because it will ride low, and the ball mount on lawn tractors is extremely low.

No modifications needed to fit the tractor hitch pin hole! The 5/8 shank was required to fit it into the hitch pin hole on my Craftsman LT1000 lawn mower

Another thing to mention is that Curt produces high-quality goods. Don't be concerned about the chrome fading. What else would you expect? Order stainless steel if you want it to look nice.
