a nicley constructed ball with a variety of designs It appears to be made out of steel. a strong variation This isn't a Walmart exclusive. If rust is a concern, look for something else. It says right in the title that it's (raw steel), so it won't be pretty in a few months, but I don't buy trailer balls to look pretty. Towing is something I do with them. Yes, I lubricate them with a ball lube.
I expected it to rust, and it did so soon after installation. I was hoping there was some sort of alloy in there to keep this from happening. Wishful thinking, to be sure. It appears to be in bad shape and will be rattle canned.
This is a significant amount of pulling force concentrated in a single area of the system. My class 4 hitch isn't nearly as strong. At the very least, I'm confident that my ball will not fall off!.
Expensive for what you get, but it did the job. If it is exposed to the elements, it will rust.
Exceptionally robust.
I got a great deal on mine, and it's held up well. I had to tack weld the nut in place because it kept backing off.
