I buy hitch lights like these to test them because "you get what you pay for. " This is a low-cost LED unit with both running and brake lights. br>It's cheap to do an initial inspection when you take something out of the box. Cheap. It has a shabby appearance and a shabby feel to it The biggest and worst part, however, is that the entire back of the circuit board is exposed when looking down the light's "hitch hole. " Water will get in through the hitches because they aren't sealed. I'm going to put this light to the test some more. br>Light does exactly what it should. The running light circuit has low illumination, while the brake light circuit has high illumination and only flashes when the brakes and a signal are both applied. It's bright and has a good LED coverage area all around the light's surface, as opposed to bulb versions with a bulb in the center, which produce more of a spot, or dot, of light. The wires on this light are thinner than those on other lights on the market, but I'm confident they'll work fine. br>Priority concern: Water intrusion in the back, with a completely open and unsealed hole to the circuit board's back. br>Pros: The colors are extremely vivid. It does exactly what it says. br>The product's long-term viability is unknown and unconvinced. For $15, you can get lights from other brands that are more reliable and well-made. The cost of replacing items that may need to be replaced on a regular basis as a result of water damage is insufficient. Close the back end and better seal the board, and you'll have one of the better lights on the market.

They appeared to have updated this product. br>The version I received had 15 LEDs and used all four wires (rather than the two listed). It also had several holes to accommodate various hitches, as well as a plastic hitch pin that was long enough to fit my original Lexus hitch. br>br>It addresses a lot of the problems that other buyers have had. Because my Ford Explorer Sport Trac has a shared turn/brake light wire, the hitch light didn't work as expected when I first installed it. Actually, it worked, but because I have a Ford with a shared turn/brake light wire, the hitch light blinks along with the turn signals when the brakes are applied and the turn signals are activated. This did not sit well with me. "Based on the video, it appears the LED trailer hitch is working normally," iJDMTOY responded when I contacted them with a video of the described action. " Unless you have separate turn signal bulbs/wires from your brake lights, this product may be suitable for you without modification. " However, if you have a Ford with shared turn/brake or another vehicle with the same wire for turn/brake, you should think twice about buying this item. br>br>I needed to install a CURT converter to get this to work properly with my Ford ST - 56196 The brake light was able to function independently of the turn signals as a result of this. I go out and buy four more. I spliced the CURT converter (and Flash Strobe Controller) between the plugs on the tow harness so that I can easily remove the light from my hitch and connect my trailer (with lights) when needed. Because the converter is too big to fit through the 2" receiver, I had to buy the 4-pack of converters. harness of wires I didn't like the way the wire exited the hitch at the bottom; It was catching on the hitch receiver and getting pinched. Because I am unable to use this product, I have given it a one-star rating. The 4- With my stock 2015 Jeep Wrangler 4 pin plug, the pin plug will not line up properly. It's far from being a tie. I tried forcing it, but even then the pins would not line up and connect, and it never lit up. Returning the item was simple, though I had to pay for the return shipping ($5). 99). The rest of the product, on the other hand, appears to be quite nice. It would have been a nice addition to have an additional brake light, in my opinion. It had three mounting pin locations, which I liked because it allows you to secure it in the receiver. They also include three foam shims to keep the hitch snug. The mounting pin they provide isn't great; it's a plastic pin held in place by a cotter pin. I planned on using a locking pin with a tow rating. A simple solution would have been to purchase a new 4-wheel drive vehicle. It's tempting to remove the pin and rewire it, but this isn't the solution. It should be ready to use right out of the box.

When the item arrived, it was discovered that the wiring did not comply with US standards. I called the seller and they told me to check my wiring, which I did, and after 4 hours of troubleshooting, I was told to cut the wires and everything would be fine. I didn't want to cut the wires on my brand new item, but I had no choice. I called the seller back and they said all of their items are wired the same.
