At the widest point the lift is 8 inches wide when mounted next to the door on the outside. The lift is 28 inches high and three inches wide when mounted on the outside. Aside from that, I'm really loving having it when I'm lowering and raising the steps. Since it would take so much effort to remove the old stairway and it would be heavy to install the new one, I did not hire my RV dealer to do the installation. As soon as it is installed, it is fantastic.

The instructions led me to believe I could install myself, but after reading them, I decided to have my RV dealer install it. The steps have to be removed, which would be a very difficult task for a single individual considering their size and weight. I was very happy with the RV dealer's work on the installation, but it did cost me a little bit. It is very reliable when it comes to operation. It does lower very slowly and is very easy to control after unlocking the closed steps. With this feature, it is simple to lift the steps to close with one hand. This is useful for older people who aren't always as strong as younger people.

There is a way to lift the step with just one finger using this gadget. There is no mention in the advertisement that the step will also be held up by the adjustable legs at chest high when it is lowered, thus making it easy to move them in any direction.

While we would have liked to install a unit on the inside of our RV to supplement our Solid Steps, we did not have the room. The B Marine & Supply Company No returns will be accepted for RVs), no return shipping will be paid for, and It is not stated in the website description what the dimensions are of the inside. You must be absolutely sure, BEFORE ORDERING, that you have the internal real estate needed to install the product.

I received a box that was trashed and had no components. I found the directions to be awful. The installation was successful after repeated attempts, but it is not recommended for those without mechanical/electrical knowledge.

Overall Very Effective. I would have expected a more smooth and effortless movement. It's tough to make it effortless at a point in its movement. It may have been a bit much of what I was expecting. The fact that it exists still makes sense over not having one.

This is sufficient. During this step new hinges and latches will need to be installed because the old stair assembly must be removed and replaced. I am very satisfied with the results. Keeping the steps down when it is appropriate and keeping them up when it is appropriate is the key. It is so easy to lower and lift and is really as simple as something you can do with one finger. It is recommended.

Although it took two attempts to receive the lift kit undamaged due to shipping, it is worth the wait. While the last shipment received a delay due to a damaged box, the contents of the kit were undamaged but there was no hardware in either shipment. The same problem was reported by two different shippers.

This lift assist will prevent the steps from falling when the door is opened, as the steps might fall when the door is opened. However, the step lift will help lift the step as well as prevent the steps from free falling for you.
