It was a perfect fit for the original LCI window frame - UPDATED
3/5

The tinted glass in the Lippert 806621 Thin Shade Window kit replaces the frosted glass in my original Lippert window. My original frosted glass was going to go with the new Thin Shade window frame, but Lippert changed the width and height of the glass. Oh well. br>br>My Thin Shade Window Kit came with an instruction sheet for a different Lippert product, which I was able to find and download after searching the Lippert website. br>br>Installation was fairly simple after downloading the correct instructions; I used blue masking tape to hold the outer section of the frame in place while removing the inner section of the frame and the glass. The outer frame was then taken off. I used adhesive dissolver to remove all of the old gasket material from the outer surface of the door, then cleaned off the remaining dissolver, and finally wiped the gasket area with isopropyl alcohol to prepare it for the new gasket material, despite the fact that it was not mentioned in the instructions. I put the outer frame together and used blue tape to secure it to the door's outer surface. I also wedged a swimming pool noodle between the outer door surface and the side of the RV with the door latched open for extra security. This added to the support that held the outer frame in place. I snapped the inner frame into the outer frame after placing the glass in place. I used a rubber mallet to finish tightening the frame halves together once they were snug. br>br>Tip 1: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, consider using the words "innovative" Prior to starting the installation, I recommend installing the pleated shade into the inner frame. My lower levers were incredibly difficult to turn, and I couldn't do so with the frame in place. br>br>Tip 2: If you are looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "innovative" and There are no orientation marks on the frame halves. Make certain your frame is in the proper orientation. When the pleated shade is in the up (open) position, a larger crossbar at the top of the frame covers and protects it. br>br>Another point to note is that the shade does not completely block out or cover the entire glass. When looking at the window from the side, there are still gaps on the sides. br>br>I gave my 3-year-old son my 3-year-old son's 3-year-old son's 3-year- due to the following factors: the lack of instructions, the squeaky lower levers, the lack of orientation markings, and the partial window coverage 1/6/2020 - *********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Now that it's been three weeks, I'm letting go of my three-year commitment. 1 out of 5 stars star. The pleats no longer lay flat against each other after only a few uses when you open the shade. Instead, they've begun to clump together into a wad. We are extremely dissatisfied and suggest that you look for a shade somewhere else. On this one, Lippert was off the mark.

It's a great addition to TT, but it takes some time to set up
4/5

In our previous TT, we had a similar product with screws in the frame rather than snaps. On the porch side, we only had a few windows, none of which were close enough to see who was knocking. From our recliners, we had a fantastic view! br>br>We knew we wanted to replace the door window with tinted glass and a shade when we bought our new TT. We received a TT with few windows on the porchside and none near the door once again. We chose this style because it is a direct replacement for the original window and includes the special frame keys needed to disassemble the old frame. We considered another style, but it required drilling holes and was significantly more expensive. Installation requires two people and a great deal of patience. What we discovered is as follows:

- Place the glass in the outer frame ahead of time and tape it to the frame on the outside.
- We discovered that once the small levers were opened, they were impossible to close. To get them to close properly and secure both sides of the shade, we used a quarter on the inside of the mechanism.
- To begin taking apart the frame, the frame keys worked perfectly, but we did break one tab on the old inner frame. We don't really need it any longer, so it's not a big deal, but it's disappointing. We may keep it "just in case," but when the time comes to sell or trade, we'll be more likely to do so with the window/shade intact.
- When the shade is open (retracted), it is designed with a larger lip on top to hide the shade. We chose to install it backwards so that we could leave a 1-inch gap. 2 inches open overnight to allow us to see out without having to open the door, especially if someone knocks and we haven't opened it for the day. We used to do this at the bottom of our old TT, but after we installed it, we noticed others doing it and wished we had thought of it as well. We're both tall enough now, so not having to bend over to look out the bottom will be nice.
- It's fairly simple once you've dismantled the old window, but two people are required. We gently smacked the two sides together at first, then worked our way around the frame three times. Inside and out, we synchronized four times to push the same area at the same time to ensure that everything was as snug as possible. br>br>2 things we've learned from working with shades like these: 1) the shade quickly forgets its pleats. To avoid problems, we open (retract) the shade as much as possible to keep the pleats looking nice. Although I'd like to close (extend) the shade during storage, the mount is unable to do so. 2) This shade is fairly stiff to raise or lower; however, I noticed that the shade rail can "flip" sideways inside the frame, especially when closing or extending the shade; this may improve with time. It's simple to fix; all you have to do is be aware of the problem.

Remove the instructions and replace them with a YouTube video
3/5

If you watch a YouTube video instead of following the included instructions, this is a very simple installation. The instructions that came with the shade did not apply to my product; I ordered two of these shades, and one of them had the frames snapped together already. If you buy this item, you'll quickly discover that separating the frames without breaking the plastic pieces is a difficult task. Apart from these two issues, the windows are fantastic! The pleating of the shade, according to some, wears out quickly. If this happens to me, I'll adjust my rating. br>br>**Update*
I took a star off because the pleating on one of my windows has already failed after just one camping trip. The window is still appealing to me, but the shade is a blight.

Quality assurance is required
3/5

Initially, I ordered two of these because my 2021 GD Imagine 2800BH has two doors with opaque glass (which is ridiculous). The first two arrived, one of which was missing the actual shade (ON A SHADOW PRODUCT?). I returned it, and Amazon promptly replaced it (within one day). BUT THE WRONG INSTRUCTIONS WERE INCLUDED IN ALL THREE OF THEM. It appears that only the shade (not the glass or frame) can be purchased, but those were the instructions that came with it. Thanks to eTrailer's website, I was able to find the correct instructions (despite searching for Lippert and/or LCI). Lippert, who claims to focus on online instructions, deserves no credit. The blinds do the job, but the first night we had one up, the pleats were difficult to retract properly. So I'm not sure how well it will hold up in the long run, but it's a lot better than the fogged glass that comes standard. FIX THIS - Make a good substitute and ensure that your packaging is of high quality.
