Questions & Answers

Will a relay need to be installed on the 110 side of the switch or can I simply connect the switch directly to the hot water heater?

In some applications, a relay is needed, however, this varies depending on the type of heater and its applications. There is no requirement for one for most of the Suburban water heater's options. A new Sw6 DSI and electric element are on the way. It came with a control board, so there was no relay to install. To prevent water from getting onto the control board, be careful where you mount it.

How does this switch compare to the one used for SW10DE heaters?

In order to clarify, the switch affects the "del" models, not the "de" If you add a 12 volt source, you'll be able to make it work A 120v relay is separate and you would have to buy it

This is the switch for the SW6DE?

This switch is for a gas or electric combination boiler. I don't recall the model number, but it was gas or electric.

A clean solution for installing a propane water heater and electric water heater
5/5

like this switch plate because it allows me to switch between my propane water heater and my electric water heater cleanly. In order to make it easy to access and see, I flush mounted it in the kitchen near the water heater. It was very easy to wire, and it works perfectly. There are some things to keep in mind You might need to add a relay between the switch and 110V water heater connection, depending on your water heater model. It is not recommended to use this switch for 110V. A Suburban water heater I have did not come with a relay and was intended to be directly connected to the 110V power outlet. Using the switch on the front of the water heater, you would then control the water heater directly if it were wired directly. As far as I am concerned, I am having an issue with this switch as it is located outside the trailer, and I would like to be able to control it from underneath. An additional solid-color line has been added This switch lets you control a relay using the state of the switch. After I am done using the water heater, all I need to do is turn off the main switch on the front of the trailer. The other thing to remember is that if your water heater does not include the relay and is directly wired to the 110v source, the light will not work when the water heater is running on electricity. Propane is the only fuel that causes this light to come on. I think this is not that big of a deal, but I would like to state it.

So I will have to stick globs of glue behind it in order to make it sit properly
3/5

This is the difficulty. It's ok, but still not as good as I hoped. It is slightly concave, so I think it will be hard to have it sit flat once it is inserted, so I will need to put globs of glue behind it to get it to do so. The problem is This took quite a bit of time and effort because I was not aware that the unit needed a separate relay to control the electric water heater element. It is not possible to turn on the water heater element by turning on the switch. 1100 or so watts are required to run the In the event that I had known this was the case, I would have simply bought a residential on/off switch for There would have been a bit of benefit to the unit if it had come with a wiring diagram.

The switch is small, yet offers There was less space on the switch plate than I had imagined The controls were near each other, so the switch was great for this type of installation
5/5

The unit is small and compact, and the water heater can be controlled both by gas and electricity. I loved the switch and it was.

The switch is easy to install and is of good quality
5/5

During the installation of my suburban hot water tank, I was able to replace my old switch with this one. There used to be a switch for propane only, with the red light signaling that it was off until the propane turned on. In addition to the on/off switch, the new switch also controls the electric portion of the The fact that I can turn on and off my electric from inside my RV is very convenient, since rather than going outside and removing the tank door, I can do it from within the vehicle. I only wish there was a little light to remind you when the electric switch is.

It can be modified simply
4/5

In order to replace a set of switches inside a cabinet, I purchased this. It is now more convenient for them to be in the bathroom. In the near future, we will re-work our next project You may want to move the switch for the electric tank valve to the bathroom rather than the outside storage area. There will be no need for me to remove the 5th wheel to access the galley, shower, and toilet tanks!.

It's great how Switch works! I think the switch is great, but the technical information is incorrect
3/5

Despite reading reviews and your website, we were left to scramble for a compatible relay on short notice due to an incorrect statement about whether a relay was required. You need to provide better technical information.

There is a lot of good stuff from Suburban! For your Suburban water heater, this switch is what you will need if your 110v is running a little differently from the circuit
5/5

The electric switch can be used to control the 110v portion of a heater that is connected to a plugged in power source. The schematic makes it easy to figure out.
