Questions & Answers

Is there any silicon in this product? Thanks. ?

On rubber products, silicone should be used with caution. Thetford is a well-known and dependable manufacturer of RV products. I'd be hesitant to use any product on RV seals unless it's proven to be safe for them.

I've tried a lot of different brands over the years, but this one is by far the best; it seems to last longer on the seals, and the price was too good to pass up
5/5

Many people overlook the importance of maintaining the slide out seals and rails, but they must be maintained if they are to function properly. When winterizing and performing an annual inspection, the RV shops will do it for an additional fee (some but not all), but at over $100 per hour for labor, I'll take 20 minutes out of my day at any time.

It does exactly what it says
4/5

The spray has a foamy consistency and is difficult to direct onto the seals without overspray; I bought this product to use on a 2008 Cameo fifth wheel RV with three slide-outs; It has a tendency to stick to the slide-out sides, leaving a sticky residue that must be removed. A small concentrator tube could be inserted into the nozzle, but none was provided. It softened and made the seals more pliable after being sprayed on and allowed to soak in. The slides also roll over and stick less as they pass through the seals. I am completely satisfied with this product and would purchase it again after a few uses.

There isn't a stream of water sprayed
3/5

For the purpose for which it was created, this product is nearly useless. The nozzle sprays a fine mist that lasts no longer than 12 seconds. 18 inches in length This prevents it from being used with an awning topper on my slide. I've used the "other" brand, which sprays a foam stream 8 feet long. It's 10 feet long, so it'll go under the topper easily. It can be used on the sides and bottom of the slide, but I had to crawl underneath and spray small sections at a time before moving on to the next section and spraying again. Even if you didn't have an awning topper, spraying a slide that was wider than your arms reach would be difficult. Most slides on the market today are included in this category. I cannot recommend this product, and I will not use it again.

It appears that a good spray and foam combination improves visibility of where the spray is going
5/5

The slide rubber seals were sprayed with this. It starts out as a foam, but after a few minutes, it transforms into a liquid film. I planned to use some cardboard to keep the foam away from the painted surface, but I ended up just spraying as best I could and keeping the foam mostly on the rubber. The foam actually improves the visibility of the product while it is being sprayed. The paint overspray seemed to make no difference. While the slides were in, spray the inside of the rubber seals (it was relatively easy to reach the entire top seal while the slides were in). You'll need a spray can extension with a long pole to fit the can between the slide and the slide topper if you want to spray the top seal on the outside.

On cable slides, DO NOT USE
3/5

Rubber seals are in good condition. It did leave a dust-attracting film on the top seal of my slide, and it should come with a warning not to use it on cable slide outs because it removed all the lubrication from the bottom seal, making it jerky when sliding in and out. I had to use the entire can of WD-40 to get the job done. To re-clean, use a 40 PTFE Dirt and Dust specialist spray. lubricate the seal with a lubricant.

Quite a mess - This item should not be used indoors
3/5

The end result is a foam-like substance. Because the stream moves so quickly, it's difficult to keep track of how much is applied. It has a tendency to clump together. Because the globs "melt" and run and drip on vertical surfaces, this is a problem. Also, after even a short period of spraying, a glob forms on the spray head and falls/drips off. Because of the mess it makes, you wouldn't want to use it to treat seals from the inside.

This product is completely ineffective! This product made my gaskets "buckle
3/5

" I used it on both sides of my gaskets, and look what happened when we went camping and used our slides. It also lacked an applicator with an extended nozzle that was attached. I'm returning the item and replacing it with a three-in-one item.

I had some rubber gaskets over some large tail lights that were causing black streaks after every rainstorm, and it was getting bad
5/5

I had no idea what conditioning rubber was until I saw it on a YouTube video and decided to buy some. WOW. It was used to restore softness and flexibility to brittle, cracked rubber in one application. STREAKING IS OFF THE TABLE. I stuck it to the inside of my tires' sidewalls. I protect them from the sun when I'm at home, but not when I'm camping, because I wanted to help the rubber out. I did the same thing with each of my gaskets. Worth it. Instead of waiting for a problem to arise, be proactive.
