I needed to attach some plastic sheeting to the inside of the door upholstery panel in my car. This was supposed to be the right stuff for that job, according to what I read. It was also very effective for me. It adheres well to both the fibber board interior of the door panel and the 6 mil plastic I used. Measurement, cutting, and application are all simple. It was simple to start and press into place by pressing against the release paper. Then simply peel off the release paper, apply the plastic sheeting, and push again. It was not overly gooey and had a good amount of firmness to it. All of this, however, was completed at a temperature of around 50 degrees. At higher air temperatures, the results may differ. The one drawback is that, as others have stated, it ships "protected" by Styrofoam, which is less than ideal because some of the foam nuggets can break off and become stuck to the caulk's side. After that, there's no way to get rid of it. It was limited to the last foot or so of the roll in my case, and even then, it would not have made a significant difference in my application. However, this should be avoided. They could easily do a better job on this part.
The overhang in the front is My Class B RV's cab window needed to be rebedded and sealed because it was leaking. I chose this because it was a round cord rather than a flat tape, which I thought would do a better job of following the window frame's rounded corner contours. it did. It was simple to put it into practice. When working with this, wear rubber gloves because it's extremely sticky and you don't want it to come into contact with your skin. Before you start, make a plan for how you'll apply the tape. There's no going back! br>br>After squishing/forming around the window opening as I had hoped, I finished the job by applying a bead of Geocel 28100V Pro Flex Crystal Clear RV Flexible Sealant around the perimeter of the exterior window frame with the clamping ring. br>br>There are no more leaks in the window!.
I used round Butyl tape to install a window in a motorhome, and it was simple to use as long as you kept the tape on while working your way around the inside of the window frame. br>br>Use tight-fitting latex gloves, and keep your fingertips moistened with mineral spirits to keep your gloves from sticking to the product while applying it. br>br>Also, for a solid watertight seal, apply the product about 1/8 of an inch below the inside edge of the window frame.
This is the same product that came with my new RV from the manufacturer. They failed to apply sealant to the top portion of a wiring hole. I rolled it in my fingers and pressed it to the missing spot because it was so easy to work with. It stuck perfectly to the butyl that was already in place.
Safely packaged. It was simple to apply to a leaking brake light to create a seal.
A styrofoam box was used to ship Sealant. Thousands of tiny styrofoam pieces were stuck to the sealant (see photo). I tried to get rid of them, but it's impossible, and I don't have the time. It can't be used to keep the headlight housing securely closed. I'm going to return it right away.
After removing broken lenses and replacing them with new ones, use to reseal headlight assemblies that had been leaking.
As of today, I haven't used it, but I won't be for long. It appears to be a high-quality item.
